3. gannon was on the scene BEFORE Scott McClellan
--so Ari Fleischer should be among the choices.
Since he was approved on a day-to-day basis, someone had to have "convinced" McClellan to wave him through.
My choice? George "Wanton" Bush

32. Or at the bottom....
I said this on another thread but it fits here too:

It's not that hard, and is kind of fun, to imagine Rove in a little schoolboy uniform, bottoming to everyone's favorite hot White House military stud top. :spank: Please, Sir JeffJames, may I have another. :spank:

More seriously and completely speculatively, that would explain why GOPravda is so terrified of this story. Normally we might expect them to sweep it under the rug with a joke and a titter, and pretend that they covered the story for all that it really was. But if Rove is involved and the whole White House press corps knows it, that would explain their terror. No one wants to risk the wrath of Attila the Rove.

I'm sort of fond of the idea that Ari Scotty and Jeff's Propaganda Hut is an outgrowth of Rummy's OSI.

Influence? Did somebody say influence?

There's got to be a chapter in Clausewitz that deals with this. Somewhere between "center of gravity" and his famous exposition on the Barberini Faun.

11. I'm sorry, but there is nothing remotely
attractive about Mr. Fruit of the Loom. I realize that my not being a gay guy might skew my perception of this person, but as a heterosexual woman, he just doesn't do it for me. If I were a gay male, I doubt he'd fare much better in my opinion.

Okay, gay guys, is he really all that? Or does he just have a big ego?

27. Me too. He reminds me of that little rubber doll that you squeeze in
the tummy. When you do that, the little buttons of his eyes, ears, and mouth pop out. And yes, he's slick on top as a trailer hitch. I find "Jeff Gannon" rawther repulsive.

18.  Rove's description of first meeting Bush
sounds like Karl finds the whole fake military guy Village People thing very arousing. Exactly Gannon's type.

"Rove picked him up at the train station, and recalled the meeting for the writer Nicholas Lemann thirty years later, sounding like a breathless school describing her first big crush.
"I can literally remember what he was wearing," said Rove. "An Air National Guard flight jacket, cowboy boots, blue-jeans, complete with the-in Texas you see it alot-one of the back pockets will have a circle worn in the pocket from where you carry your tin of snuff, your tin of tobacco. He was exuding more charisma than any one individual should be allowed to have."

19. Well, Ari Fleischer is at least a possibility.
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 05:40 PM by Zan_of_Texas
Ari was press sec. when he got entry. To the press conferences.

dailykos found video of JG at a press conference in late February 2003. Ari left as press sec. in May 2003.

May 19, 2003
"(CBS) White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, the public face of the Bush administration through two wars and a terrorist attack, said Monday he will resign in July to enter the private sector. "I love this job," Fleischer told reporters at his informal Monday morning briefing. "I believe deeply about President Bush as a man and I believe deeply in his policies, but it's my time to go."

He would not speculate on who would take his place, but presidential aides said deputy press secretary Scott McClellan was the likely successor, although there are other possibilities. Fleischer said he wanted to leave the hard-driving job before Mr. Bush's re-election campaign geared up. "I want to do something more relaxing - like dismantle live nuclear weapons," he quipped.

...Fleischer clashed at times with the White House press corps and had an uneasy relationship with some senior Bush aides, but he said the departure was his idea. He notified Mr. Bush of his decision Friday. The president ended the conversation "by kissing me on the head," the spokesman said. ...

Fleischer, 42, got married six months ago. He said he wanted to go on the speaking circuit and maybe do some writing.

"White House Spokesman to Quit," CBS News, May 19, 2003 <http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/05/19/politics/main554484.shtml>

ON EDIT: The photo was provided by a DUer and not part of the original CBS story. However, it does afford a view of what is presumably a WHITE HOUSE STAFF pass, yes?

22. Ari's decision was made while they were planning Bush's Auschwitz trip
While on the trip with reporters present Ari told reporters that the president asked his guide if they got many people who challenged the veracity of holocaust reports (my paraphrase from memory. I doubt Bush knows some of those big words).

I think we will never know why they forced Ari to carry that information to the reporters so that Bush holocaust deniers would get the message that he was on their side. But since Ari decided to quit while the trip was being planned, I believe it was in the plan from that time and that made Ari quit.

That question did not get into the AP report that is widely saved, but I only saw it in the NY Times report that I cannot find a save of on the internet. If you want to spend money you can check it out by purchasing a view of the article they had on Bush's trip to Auschwitz late April or early May 2003, right after he had started his own aggressive war on Iraq.

31. I think all of the above candidates have to be very careful
not to p.o. Mr. Gannon/Guckert, because I think he has a LOT on the whole bunch of them. My first suspicion was when I rewatched the press thing on the Daily show tonight...Chimps eyes were darting all over the place, and he had to reach down and gulp some water, or whatever was in the glass. He just looked nervous; not how you would expect him to look if he was just calling on a softball pitcher.
