BREAKING: Request for new hearings with Rice
This is going to be a quick and dirty diary so, I apologize now- my day's almost done but I wanted to get this out there. From TruthOut, Rep. Henry A. Waxman; Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney are calling for new hearings to ascertain EXACTLY who knew what, when, and whether this administration has continued to lie about warnings involving 9/11. You can see the full text of the letter to Tom Davis, Chairman
Committee on Government Reform.

18. BUSH, 9-11? Oh that - we'll release it - but after Nov. 2nd. -->
After we're comfy back in the White House And you know - people will be so sick and tired of all this politicking - we'll make it go away fast.

We'll get them upset about SS. We'll get them upset about 150 social and environmental programs getting cut from the budget. And just in case those don't work - we'll throw in Gannon, the two-bit male escort that asked some questions of Bush.

But how did he get there people? They put him there because they wanted him there. And just as easy as they did that - they will undo it and make the story die.

When things get too hot for the bushistas, terra alerts pop up. How obvious is this.
My gues is that THIS time, they are going to have to manufacture a car bombing somewhere. They have started talking about car bombings, so I guess we will get one soon.

There's no way they can let that go without some investigation as to who knew what and when. They must question why she stated under oath, I might add, that there were no previous warnings. This is great news!

49. Welcome to DU, LevelB! Maybe if the Dems play their cards right
they won't really need to get the hearing. If they are smart, they will paint the admin as scared to give any more info. We should scream it from the mountain tops that the repubs are obstructing TRUTH by not allowing it, in other words, protecting their own. We could win some public opinion if Dean "screamed" about it, even though the repubs would then play the race card. On second thought, maybe someone besides Dean should scream about it. Wha do ya think?

It would be great if the hearings could take place, though.

I doubt we can get the hearings. The republicans hold the majority in both houses, and have the sitting President.

I think we can (and should) make them squirm - in public.

established. With a Repug House & Senate and with the Dems caving anytime the rubber meets the road - I'll keep my fingers crossed. The 52 pre-911 warnings is the story - not Gannon. (see my previous posting earlier in the day - don't know how you can get to it though - I posted it this a.m.) Finally we have some in congress that have the guts to push this. Let's see if we can get the word out to our respective representatives in D.C. (Senators and Congressmen) that they need to push this as well.

My post earlier today was at 9:57am Thur Feb 17-05 titled - "DU Is Enamored With Gannon - Missing The Bigger Story"

Check it out - food for thought.

17. Remember Condi's and *'s comments immediately after 911.
"If we only knew we would have moved heaven and earth." or how about - "We would have never expected them to use a plane." Remember Condi's testimony to the 911 Commission - lies- maybe more?

In the mean time - the 52 warnings have come and gone. The bulk of the American people don't even know that they existed. What - the story was alive for a day and a half.

Where are the Dems? Are they making the kind of issue about this as the Repugs made about the BJ and the Blue Dress. Doesn't look like it to me.

Kerry was the only Senator pushing this, even when his life was threatened. He continued when his own party was begging him to stop. When forced to stop he took the stuff to the Justice department. When they did nothing, he took it to a NYC DA. What else should he have done?

What have you done to sit in judgment on Kerry on this issue? He clearly went further than anyone else in the Senate.

31. Sadly, folks, I think you mixing things up
In soooo many ways and on soooo many issues this is just another "been there and done that" situtation because there is a world of difference between "gasp they lied and covered up and manipulated", etc. AND the fact that THE PEOPLE DON'T CARE!!! Haven't you noticed this by now?? These minions of the republicans don't care if there are lies, murder, propaganda, etc. flowing from this White House----they love it as something great that keeps those liberals out of power and gets the people to vote for "our guy". They cheer it on if it means theat "their team wins". The dumb fuckers cannot figure out that they are turning our nation over to a real slimy element that intends to use and enslave them along with everyone else. That's why all these things never go anywhere.

39. STILL!!!!!!! We do not have THIS DIFFERENT report:
The CIA Inspector General's 9/11 report. It's the one that "names names". It was complete last year, is nort classified. They said they'e wait til after the election to release it.

WE DO NOT HAVE IT! Nobody 'round here is even asking for it! Neither are our congress people. !!??

I want this report RELEASED.

Oct. 19, 2004, from Truthout:

It is shocking: The Bush administration is suppressing a CIA report on 9/11 until after the election, and this one names names. Although the report by the inspector general's office of the CIA was completed in June, it has not been made available to the congressional intelligence committees that mandated the study almost two years ago.

"It is infuriating that a report which shows that high-level people were not doing their jobs in a satisfactory manner before 9/11 is being suppressed," an intelligence official who has read the report told me, adding that "the report is potentially very embarrassing for the administration, because it makes it look like they weren't interested in terrorism before 9/11, or in holding people in the government responsible afterward."

When I asked about the report, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice), ranking Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, said she and committee Chairman Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.) sent a letter 14 days ago asking for it to be delivered. "We believe that the CIA has been told not to distribute the report," she said. "We are very concerned."

According to the intelligence official, who spoke to me on condition of anonymity, release of the report, which represents an exhaustive 17-month investigation by an 11-member team within the agency, has been "stalled." First by acting CIA Director John McLaughlin and now by Porter J. Goss, the former Republican House member (and chairman of the Intelligence Committee) who recently was appointed CIA chief by President Bush.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/102004V.shtml

What are they hiding?? What are they hiding?? What are they hiding??

And why is no one DEMANDING this report????

41. I just sent the link to this to Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY)
with a request that she & Rep. Waxman demand the release of this document, if they haven't already. And indeed they may already be on it, but it never hurts to communicate, since important stuff can easily slip through the cracks. Waxman's site wouldn't let me e-mail him since I'm not in his district (nope - I'm in Oklahoma!) but I was able to get around that to reach Rep. Maloney (D-NY).
Thanks troubleinwinter for bringing this document back up - I remembered reading about it, but couldn't remember where.

48. "Not swatting flies"
Is the key. This statement by Rice makes it clear that 9-11 was at least LIHOP.

That and not enough discussion on who exactly was placing "puts" on the airlines leading up to 9-11 shows 'somebody' had pre-knowledge of what was about to happen. I think "Buzz" needs to be recalled also.

And while were at it, declassifying Sybil Edmond's testimony on what she found in the FBI translations should clear-up the money trail.

The more I think about it, the more these 9-11 commissions start to look like a Warren Commission remix. A smoke screen with the appearance of an investigation, but really a cover-up.

Like Ford replaced Nixon, who can we expect to replace Bu$h, a member of these 9-11 commissions?
