Is It Time for Michael Moore to Do Documentary on Joe Scarborough?
Republican stronghold gives kid-glove treatment to local U.S. Congressman Joe Scarborough

Which Republican U.S. Congressman had a dead aide found in his office while the media was hounding Democrat U.S. Congressman Gary Condit?

Conservative Republican that served from 1994-2001 when he resigned from office abruptly, just months after being reelected..

Represented northwest Florida -- a military rich area -- which includes the Naval Air Station -- Eglin AFB -- Hurlburt AFB

Paid to write commentary for the Pensacola News Journal http://www.pensacolanewsjournal.com

A dead female aide was found in his Florida office at the same time Democrat Congressman Gary Condit was under intense national media scrutiny News article link

When this story first broke in the Florida panhandle, we wondered if we were in store for some Gary Condit-style media coverage. Needless to say, this story never made national TV. The big boys of broadcast had their sights set solely on Condit and had no time to cover the unusual death of a healthy, politically active 28-year-old female aide in a U.S. Congressman's district office.

The so-called Liberal national media -- quite the opposite in this instance as in so many others -- felt it was more important to keep plucking feathers from their latest Democrat goose than to ruffle the feathers of a Republican Congressman who unexpectedly resigned just a few months after being reelected. Now an aide had been found dead in his office, but the national news media simply weren't interested.

After all was said and done, a few things became quite clear. The authorities, mainly the police who investigated the scene, gave the appearance of a cover-up by immediately stating that there were no signs of foul play. It subsequently was revealed that the dead woman had a bad wound to her forehead, which seemed to fly in the face of the initial statements by investigators. If this wasn't an example of poor police work, it most certainly was a case of bumbled media and public relations.

How could police rule out foul play until they knew the cause of the wound, before an autopsy was conducted and toxicology tests performed? The local newspaper, the Northwest Florida Daily News, tried to get information from local authorities and claimed they were sandbagged at every turn . No one suggested that the Congressman had anything to do with the death, but the manner in which authorities handled the press shows one thing. They gave the benefit of the doubt to the popular Republican Congressman, and it is doubtful they would have done the same for any ordinary Joe.

Since this scandal involving the death of Scarborough's alleged mistress ended his political career, MSNBC gave him a plum job as a talking head. Doesn't this crime cry out for Michael Moore's investigative talents? Doesn't this poor girl deserve to have her death investigated and to bring the criminal to justice?

Michael, where are you?

2. No, he owes Mumia an apology
I suggest he do something to atone for his catastrophic failure to curtail the bogus notions he let slip in his last book. After months of silence while the world repeated his excerpt, he finally made a fairly lame explanation of it on Democracy Now. Reprehensible in carelessness and failure to respond in a timely manner.
WWW.MICHAELMOOREKILLEDOFFICERFAULKNER.COM almost went up as a result.

5. this goes back to his previous book release
A book I never bought because of the stir these sentiments made.
What was being repeated was that his book said-
"I think Mumia is guilty, but deserves a new trial"
Not once did I hear anyone bracket this comment with the explanation Moore finally provided when cornered on Democracy Now months later-
that he was giving examples of how to bring up sensitive topics to right wingers in a stealthy manner, I guess.
He did a LOT of damage regardless of his intent.

7. Wow, that's a pretty ridiculous statement from MM.
If you think he deserves a new trial, you'd also probably extend the presumption of innocence, no?

8. an eternity of silence while this rode the whirlwind
Moore knew no greater enemy than I until he finally spoke on it.
The irony that I got a cameo in 9-11 should kill one of us.

11. I don't believe we need to see less of Michael Moore
We would just be reacting to exactly what the repugs want. Moore at least gets the conversation going. And if we let the repugs form the discussion on MM then we are losing an important tool in educating these fools. Just because they smear him doesn't mean we should hide him under a rock to placate the neocons. Sometimes you just have to keep hitting them between the eyes until they finally get it. Remember all the people who defended Nixon until they could no longer ignore the scandal? Thank God Woodward and Bernstein didn't give up.

Repugs - so many scandals to choose from, so little time and video tape!

13. Thanks for the encouragement!
Michael Moore remains important as long as Right Wingers think he's dangerous.

Oh--you misspelled "Michael."

10. Funny--last night or the night before, Joe did a big hit piece on Moore
Maybe Moore is doing it--------actually, there will be more and more Moore bashing coming because his next project is about the drug companies. Saw him interviewed on Today about it and it made Katie squirm in her panties. I seriously worry now about his safety. Bush was big but the drug companies rule America. I hope the documentary is already in the can. As I said in another post: they probably will trump up charges about Moore and haul him off to jail...like that he's really bin Laden and ate a ton of McD burgers to disguise himself.

14. That's what I was thinking about
Scarborough has some serious serious skeletons in his closet....like a dead girl in his office with a covered up cause of death and allegations she was his mistress.

Who needs to investigate whom here?

I think Scarborough's past should be thoroughly examined. I doubt that more than one or two percent of his viewers know his sordid past. Do we really want unindicted and untried suspects in heinous murders on TV talking to our children?
