Dean: As chairman I will not let them continue to frame the debate.
..."The highlight of the night came in the phase of the debate when panelists were invited to ask questions. Perle had just spoken for a while, trashing the Dems on national security as usual. The panel then asked Dean an unrelated question. Before responding to that question, the Good Doctor said to Perle something like "Before I respond I want to say that Richard has attempted to do something that I'm not going to let him get away with, and that is frame the debate. As chairman I don't intend to let them continue to frame the debate."

I look forward to watching this on C-Span tomorrow. Someone said Dean was very subdued. Sounds pretty powerful though in this statement.

1. Very important point...when you frame the debate, you're on the
offensive, and that puts the opposing side on the defensive. Politics ain't football--offense beats defense here.

4. Good luck with that Dr. Dean
as too many of our elected dems want to adopt how and what the repubs frame.

9. Have you read
"Moral Politics?" It's an expanded version of "Don't think of an elephant!" Intense stuff...

10. I have the book, but have not read it yet.
Getting ready to start when I finish "Don't Think of an Elephant."

Actually I am not very organized in my reading. I have Brock's book, Dean's book, and that one going on as well.

13. Word
Sounds like you're on the right track... I read Wellstone's book and Blinded by the Right last weekend, and now I'm switching off VC Andrews and Lakoff. ;-)

6. Waahhh...
Rather than commend the good Dr for starting the ball rolling in the right direction, I'd rather give up all hope and whine about Democrats...

they won't follow Dean's lead.
Silence is complicity. I won't pretend to be a happy camper with a weak kneed party.
