Finally, the Left's hypocrisy revealed!!!
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 01:41 PM by TexasLawyer
An e-mail I just received from Ann Coulter, shilling for a god-awful rag called "Human Events."

I'm glad she's pointing out some examples of the liberal media at work, because I've been looking and looking and haven't really noticed much mainstream press that even tries to counter RNC talking points.

Apparently, Human Events can help us sort out many "lies" we've been fed by the liberal media. Her magazine is "an antidote to the PC nonsense riddling most American history books that make false claims like: FDR's New Deal worked". Whaaaah?!!??-- I thought the New Deal DID work! Who knew?

Note to mods: this was an email, which says at the bottom: "Spread the word. Forward this e-mail to any friends and associates who would appreciate news untainted by liberal bias"-- So, just in case there is anyone else, like me, who appreciates untainted news, here's the e-mail.

**************************************
Dear Fellow Conservative,

You see... this is what kind, compassionate, tolerant liberals do to people who dare to expose the Left's hypocrisy! That's why I say...

Thank heavens for HUMAN EVENTS!

HUMAN EVENTS is the publication I have called my editorial home for six years. Not only do I write regularly for HUMAN EVENTS, I devour it from cover to cover every week.

Why? Because it's the one newsweekly I can count on to bring me the absolute, unvarnished, hard-hitting truth. And so should you.

HUMAN EVENTS (Which you can get at a big discount with a FREE best-selling book.) is written and edited by gutsy people who will rescue you from the sticky tar pit of political correctness that passes for contemporary reporting... not girlie-boy editors afraid of sticking to their guns!

That means by reading HUMAN EVENTS, you and I can count on getting the news the liberal media try so hard to keep from us!

For example, in recent issues of HUMAN EVENTS...

I learned that at a recent federal trial, doctors testified that some babies being subjected to a partial-birth abortion are actually alive and squirming. (Apparently infanticide is a constitutional right according to liberals).

Liberal media coverage of this testimony -- NONE

I also read the following quote. "People are the cause of all the problems. We have too many of them. We need to get rid of some of them." Was this an Islamic terrorist? Jacques Chirac complaining about Paris traffic? No. . . it was a radical environmentalist complaining that the insecticide DDT was actually saving lives.

Liberal coverage -- NONE

I found out that Islamic terrorists may be creeping across our Mexican border -- and that the Border Patrol is being hampered from properly cataloguing and tracking terrorist suspects by "mustn't label anyone," politically-correct liberals.

Liberal media coverage -- NONE (I think by now you are starting to see the picture.)

You could search the liberal press from now until Barbra Streisand votes Republican, and you wouldn't find news items like these seeing the light of day.

Such news doesn't (ahem) fit the agenda.

Well, the only agenda for HUMAN EVENTS is the truth.

I appreciate the way HUMAN EVENTS blows away the smoke and gives me real answers.

Every time I wince at the brazen lies of Democratic leaders or their surrogates in the press, it occurs to me that America will never run short of natural gas.

Each time I open HUMAN EVENTS, I am thankful for a news source that brings me the straight facts and keeps me one-up and a step ahead. From recent issues:

FACT: The top 50% of income earners pay 96.5% of the federal income taxes, while the lowest 44% pay no federal income taxes.

FACT: The federal government -- with your tax dollars -- subsidizes programs for kids to play golf at posh resorts

FACT: Drilling for oil in just a fraction of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would yield the equivalent of 30 years of oil imports from Saudi Arabia.

FACT: Federal employees spent $16.4 billion in 2003 on government charge cards. Some of those charges included: country club fees, personal clothing, movie gift certificates and beer

FACT: A recent national survey found that Democratic professors outnumber Republican professors 3 to 1 in economics, 28 to 1 in sociology, and 30 to 1 in anthropology.

FACT: During a study on the competency of teachers, half the teachers failed a qualifying verbal and math test

And we have the best writers in the business. Regular columnists such as Phyllis Schlafly, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Ollie North, Terry Jeffery, Linda Chavez, David Limbaugh, Bob Novak, Larry Elder, Michelle Malkin and Cal Thomas give you an insider's view of what's going on behind Washington's closed doors.

Now you know why I think you and HUMAN EVENTS should get together.

There's so much at stake today. America is at war and liberals just don't get it. Never has it been more important for you to get the truth -- and not the P.C. pabulum that filters through the establishment media.

And now you can try HUMAN EVENTS with this special introductory offer -- a full 35-week trial subscription at the reduced rate of just $39.95... a little more than a dollar an issue. Plus, receive as a gift...

The New York Times bestseller...
The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History

The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History is a handy one-volume fast-reading guide to our nation's glorious past that has one key advantage over today's PC history books: this one tells you what really happened — not what liberals wish had happened.

At last patriotic Americans have an antidote to the PC nonsense riddling most American history books that make false claims like: FDR's New Deal worked, the Reagan years were the "Decade of Greed" and the Civil War was just about slavery.

This is a MUST-READ that is yours FREE, just for trying HUMAN EVENTS risk-free.

Frankly, not everyone has the courage to read HUMAN EVENTS. It is far easier to just swallow what the establishment media dish out and nod in agreement with the bovine herd. Sad but true.

But I think you're exceptional. You have the courage to think for yourself. You've read this far, haven't you? Why not take the next step?
Just order today and try HUMAN EVENTS for yourself.

But please don't delay. There is only one way to claim your free hardcover copy of The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History and get the straight news you need!

Sincerely,

Ann Coulter
for HUMAN EVENTS

43. She's a disgusting whore
And I don't mean "sex-worker." I mean whore.

Ann lives in high style by pulling amazing "facts" straight out of her ass, by lying shamelessly, and by using smear-and-fear tactics pulled straight out of Lee Atwater's bottomless bag of dirty tricks.

Ann's a dirty, dirty whore. A sex-worker is a saint by comparison.

Personally I feel that at it was posted as a "see what the dumbshits are up to" but I've been wrong before (ONCE).

13. I like to see what outrageous things people like AC are saying...
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 01:57 PM by TexasLawyer
Ever since a guy I work with, and who I had believed was very, very intelligent, started saying things like, "God, I hate the French" (during the whole "freedom fries" tempest in a teapot) I have been trying to figure out where people get this crap. How can you counter what they're saying if you don't know what they're saying?

I signed up on the mailing list for super RW "Move America Forward" and I think they put me on some other e-mail lists.

Also, I tune into RW hate radio sometimes. I always have a pad of paper when I listen, and I write down the advertisers. Then I call or write to let them know that they are sponsoring hate, and to tell them exactly what poison Rush or Sean or whoever spewed right before or after their ad played. I've actually had some success.

Anyway, if you think I'm trying to promote the magazine on DU, well, this is a pretty dumb place to come looking for customers. I don't think this will get Ann any business-- only laughs, disgust, and pity.

28. The universities are run by leftists, so
we better cut off all their funding!

Also, smart college profs might write papers and books (e.g. Howard Zinn) and newspaper columns (like economics professor Paul Krugman) letters to the editor and statistical studies showing things like that Bush could not have won the election-- but of course those fancy pants professors have a hidden agenda, so you just can't believe anything they say.

I'm guessing these are some of the thoughts hidden between the lines here.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=3134994&mesg_id=3134994

At some point we have to be ready to work with our own "fringe" voices or I fear we are going to loose our country to fascism. It seems to be what people respond to in what passes for our culture today.

We KNOW the msm isn't "liberal" but that doesn't satisfy them, they keep their Coultier's and Limbaugh's out their yammering that it is. We keep trying to be "polite" and keep looking for bridges to cross. Problem is we try to meet them on some common ground and they push us off the clift.

"Human Events" and the bovine herds. Right....

29. You all realize Ann Coulter is suffering from anorexia or bulimia right?
Edited on Fri Feb-18-05 08:05 PM by bush_is_wacko
By that definition she truly is suffering from a mental disease.

I know how strange the thought processes of someone suffering from this disease can be.

While they can go on and on about partial birth abortion and BTW, I actually do know enough about this practice to tell you it should be banned, there is NO argument about the mothers help that could not be corrected by either C-section or LIVE birth at the phase of pregnancy we are talking about here and it is HORRID practice! These are the same gestation of babies that are being successfully supported in neo-natal units all over this country at this point and by that definition I do consider this murder. This is the ONE issue that I am NOT liberal about. I have no issue with early abortion and I REALLY mean that too!

Anyway (now that I've rambled all over the place) an anorexic/bulimic can justify STARVING the fetus growing inside of them, which is TORTURE, but yet Coulter can not find ANY legitimate reason why a perfectly sane, rational, woman might think she deserves to be able to make that decision without the assistance of our government. I know Coulter might have never had a child. IMO, that makes her even LESS qualified to EVER be allowed to dictate to me or any other mother what our rights should be with regard to this issue.

I can't stand this woman and EVERY time I have EVER laid eyes on her she is MANIPULATING the hell out of someone without ever really making any sense. I have a relative with anorexia and she is EXACTLY the same. Take a good hard look at Coulter. Her face is tightly drawn over her teeth. You can almost count her ribs through her shirt if you ever get a good side view of her. Even her hair looks as if it is starving!

61. I agree and I truly wonder who is paying the people to call in and say
"LOVE" her work too! The he/she thing sort of caught my attention too, but I think the large Adam's apple is a result of starving herself to death making it more pronounced. It isn't quite as prominent as it should be IMO if she were really a man. She is just a hate filled and highly bribed "reporter" in the same sense Gannon/Guckert is.

It is so funny to sit and listen to HER of all people say liberals don't make sense. While I have truly ATTEMPTED to follow her "so called" progression of "the facts", I continually find myself saying what the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING. I sincerely hope NO Democratic candidate EVER tries to follow her "advice" to the the party. Actually, I'm not sure how she can consider her words "advice".

She must have been a terrible lawyer. I wouldn't hire her if she told me the case would be done pro bono and she would pay me her salary!

Anyone with a brain could certainly see through her propaganda bullshit in that "interview/cheer leading" session!

Look, it's just another pundit shearing her flock of sheep. It's brazen, it's hilarious, it's ridiculous, it's a scam...but they want to throw some chunk of their money at her, so she's willing to play catch.

It's amusingly transparent. It's the Willis Carto principle about there being lots of money is Lost Causes- find a bunch of disgruntled suckers and play to their bigotry and sense of inferiority by pretending they're right and their p.o.v. is legitimate. Make sure they keep on coming back for more, and make sure that they have to pay at every step along the way.

Then open the bank accounts and deposit the slew of checks that come in the mail. Make sure never to waver about your views and certainty in public, and the more brazenly so the larger the amounts on the checks and number of checks that come in.

70. Thanks for defending my post
I laughed when I read the e-mail, and posted it here mostly for the humor value.

I am SO not a Republican, and I am SO SO not a fan of Man Coulter. I was taken aback when I read some comments on this thread questioning why I posted an AC e-mail. I'm probably farther left than most people on DU, and I'm probably more vocal about my politics too. So it didn't dawn on me what alternate conclusions people might draw about the post.

But I do understand how one's motives can be second-guessed on an anonymous web-site.

36. HAHAHA!
<snip>
FACT: Drilling for oil in just a fraction of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would yield the equivalent of 30 years of oil imports from Saudi Arabia.

and the fraction is...95%

37. Personally, thanks for reminding us what we're fighting against.
On a side note, I never watched Ann Coulter and always thought the "Adam's Apple" comments were just jokes.

Until I actually downloaded a video... she DOES have an Adam's Apple!

Ann Coulter is a MAN, baby!

39. At least MM is humorous and creative!
I really don't think you can compare the two! I can't see a single redeeming factor in Mann Coulter. She's just full of vitriol. I'll admit some of MM's conclusions are questionable, but they're not blatant lies like many of Coulter's statements!

and there are so many other countries, too, besides Chile. Now we're actively undermining Hugo Chavez, the democratically elected, populist president of Venezuela. Chavez has somehow morphed into a "military dictator" according to Bushco.

64. I noticed she seems to always get away with comments like this.
What kind of idiot pays one thin dime for a book written by someone that doesn't even bother to hide the fact she is ignorant!

Coulter reminds me of my dad's friend's new Evangelical, works for a petroleum company, clearly takes some sort of mind altering drug given the size of her pupils and her inability to concentrate, girlfriend.

My experience with actually being around her before last night was limited, but she knows exactly how liberal I am and could hardly bring herself to look at me for fear I would actually be able to string a sentence together, I guess!

69. I'm just waiting...
...for someone to say something that makes them start going "DOES NOT COMPUTE" over and over and their heads start rotating and suddenly explode.

Actually I don't think Ann is really like that. I'm not sure how ignorant she really is. I think she's really a fucking lying bitch who probably knows more or less exactly what she's doing, and doesn't care. Because she's a lying amoral bitch.

Ann just pulls things out of her butt. There's a big difference.

Unless you're talking about MM's looks. He is a hambeast, but what about Ann? He could probably use her as a toothpick.

65. Real Hypocrisy
I do not know if you are joking or if you a really a Republican posting on this website, but I will show you real hypocrisy from the right. First, The Republicans claim that they want equal time on TV and in the debate forum. However, the Cato Institute will nmot publish any research that supports the government. Many Republicans boast about not giving equal time to people who are against their view. In actuallity Republicans do not believe in equal time they just use that line in order to get people to give them more time than they deserve. Second, Republicans claim they are against the government, but they want to and are willing to use the government to get what they want. The Republicans are the real hypocrites. Finally, you should get that information fact checked in that a few months from now someone will most likely debunk it just most of the things from the Republicans gets debunked.

66. Why can't people like Ann Colter understand
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 03:38 PM by Iris
that paying even a 1% tax on poverty level wages could mean the difference between a family eating or not eating while paying even 30-40% on millions of dollars might mean the difference - well, I can't even imagine what the sacrifice would be.

67. Don't focus on INCOME taxes
That's the heart of the deception. Income tax is only one kind of tax out of many. You still have to pay sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, etc. Overall, the poor in this country pay roughly the same percentage of income in taxes of all kinds as the rich. That doesn't count all the wealth that goes completely untaxed.

And perhaps you can mention that wild statement when she said Canada fought in the Viet Nam war.

We have to fight these stupid emails with out own. This is one of the ways the Repubs gain support, by sending around idiotic emails to people who follow like sheep.

72. I found this one interesting
"FACT: Federal employees spent $16.4 billion in 2003 on government charge cards. Some of those charges included: country club fees, personal clothing, movie gift certificates and beer"

I was a government card holder and if I bought any of that unauthorized shit, I'd be court martialed in a heartbeat.

The cards are used by trained designated card holders with a limited monthly budget to make purchases of authorized items such as office supplies, copier contracts and office furniture. All purchases are vetted by supervisory approving officials, receipts are maintained and accounts are inspected annually.

Those purchases constituted fraud. The fraudulent purchasers have had their government credits card privileges revoked and they would have been held liable for crimes.

By mentioning the amount of purchases (if an accurate amount) in close proximity with the statement of fraud and an absence of the actual percentage of fraudulent purchases, she has cast aspersions on the majority on the amount of money spent. Someone not paying attention (meaning your average conservative) would think that a lot of that money was actual fraud, instead of authorized purchases.

The bitch thinks that she was trying to get one over on the reader. Little does she know, that I know that she's full of shit.
