Please note that this headline is currently on MSNBC's FRONT PAGE (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/).

When you click it, the article's actual headline is:

Bush declares solidarity with Europe on Iran
Diplomacy is first choice, he says, but force cannot be ruled out

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6992154/

BRUSSELS - President Bush said Friday that Iran is trying to use the United States’ refusal to join European talks over Tehran’s nuclear program as an excuse for not giving up uranium enrichment.

In interviews on the eve of a trip by the president to Europe, Bush stressed that the United States preferred diplomacy and did not want to use military action against Iran over the nuclear question.

“What they’re trying to do is kind of wiggle out. They’re trying to say, ‘Well, we won’t do anything because America is not involved.’ Well, America is involved. We’re in close consultation with our friends,” Bush said.

“First of all you never want a president to say never, but military action is certainly not, is never the president’s first choice,” Bush said, when asked if he could rule out military action against Iran.

1. Bush is warmongering.
Is there any place on earth more war-weary than Europe? This trip needs to be cancelled for lack of invitation.

2. Putin is backing Iran
i saw this yesterday somewhere ; President Putin says that Iran is not pursuing a nuclear weapons program and will continue to support their efforts in the developement of nuclear energy.

I wonder if King George is going to see this as a threat from Russia and restart the cold war. Is Russia on the 'invasion list' somewhere?

5. The whole "war with Iran" is a diversionary tactic....
to try and keep the Islamic fundamentalists at bay while they try to stabilize and create a "government" in Iraq. The last thing they need is for the Shiites coming in from Iran and other places creating chaos and planting car bombs, etc...

10. That's a good point...
...Iran cannot discount Chimpy attacking them because of his brazen attack on Iraq. The administration may indeed have no plans to attack Iran, but they can make credible threats. I'm thinking the Bushies are trying to stir revolt from within. It won't work, but not from a lack of trying.

11. Boogyboogyboogy! Be very afraid!
First we have the "Terror Threat", yesterday was it, today we have war in Iran. First off, these MSM "news" folks need to read blogs 'cause we've been talking about Bush's plan for Iran for quite some time now. Second, the administration has done this too many times and the pattern is showing. WH Scandal, Boo!, WH scandal, Boo!

I actually wrote about this at my blog. It's called Terror Threat! There Must Be a Scandal

7. "Diplomacy is first choice, he says, but force cannot be ruled out"
Translation: "We're gonna bomb the fuck outta their country the first time one of 'em even looks at us wrong."

Honestly, does anyone even sort of believe him anymore when he says diplomacy is the first choice? (Not that any DUers, including me, believed him when he said that about Iraq.)

8. Naw, he won't attack:
he'll try to talk the Israelis into being the U.S. surrogate.

Then, just in case Iran really does have usable nukes and means to deliver them, it'll be Tel Aviv that will go.

Dubya is too much of a coward to attack directly a country that might have usable nukes. Watch as he ass-kisses North Korea.

9. Diplomacy
a) He has no experience with diplomacy

b) Wasn't he saying a few months ago that he is the "WAR Prsident"? Does that correlate with his statement that he prefers "DIPLOMACY"?

He knows he wants another war.
We know he wants another war.
Does his religious right base want another war?
