Report Gannon to D.C. Sex Crimes Unit: Here's the link!
Ask the Police in Washington DC to arrest Jeff Gannon for prostitution. They should find out who all of his johns are and charge them, too. Be sure to send links to some websites proving prostitution was solicited. (Which links are best?)

Meanwhile, here is a statement from the WAshington DC Metropolitican Police Department's Sex Offender Registry Unit. Please call or e-mail them to report this criminal:

"If you have concerns about a sex offender in your neighborhood or sex offenders in general, have information on the whereabouts of a wanted sex offender, believe any information on this website is in error, or if you would like further information, please contact the Metropolitan Police Department, Sex Offender Registry Unit, at 300 Indiana Avenue, NW 20001,
phone: (202) 727-4407,
or email us at sexoffender.registry@dc.gov ."

1. Does prostitution qualify someone as a sex offender?
I guess I have always thought a "sex offender" was a pedophile or a rapist. I didn't think it included consenting adults. Perhaps it varies from state to state.

4. I'm not sure. But prostitution is definitely a crime,
and as such, it should be investigated. Whether the sex offenders' unit is the correct unit to investigate, I'm not certain. Someone should call and find out, though. If there's a better number, please post.

2. Just to ask --
-- should we include in our call to the DC police the names of all females who practice prostitution as well, or just males, or just this male?

I have never personally witnessed Jeff Gannon practicting prostitution.

While I acknowledge that laws forbid it in almost all counties of the country, I personally do not ojbect to his practice of prostitution. I object to the White House allowing him to pass as a journalist, which blurs the freedom of speech provision of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

3. Wish someone would ask WH if Jim/Jeff should be investigated
Seems appropriate that someone ask WH if this guy should be investigated for possible illegal activities, and if not, why not. Put them on the spot.

5. Yes, but the WH won't investigate even if asked.
They haven't investigated any other wrongdoing yet; why start now?

This is a local police jurisdiction, fortunately, not Justice Dept at this point. So I think there'd be a chance of getting a real investigation going.

6. That would be a perfectly legitimate question to ask.

9. Bush is in Europe now. Maybe a real journo over there will ask.
Hmmm... Do we have links to send them e-mails and suggest a few questions? ;-)

7. Bad link
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 08:20 PM by GDoyle
That isn't the sex crimes unit of the police, its a separate agency that registers convicted sex offenders. It has nothing to do with investigating new crimes and merely is a depository of information on convicted sex offenders. You better find a link to the DC Police vice unit if you really want to report Gannon. That link is not even close to related to the DC Police unit that investigates new crimes, which that particular bureau you reported doesn't.

10. There's no vice unit listed online. We'll have to call.

8. If the FBI and the Secret Service
did not touch Jeff Gannon,
what makes you think that some flatfoot cop who has to report directly to Congress
is going to do anything?
