Hopefully this group doesn't get infiltrated for eating brownies ...

SCOTT RITTER SAYS U.S. PLANS JUNE ATTACK ON IRAN, ‘COOKED’ JAN. 30 IRAQI ELECTION RESULTS

United for Peace of Pierce County (WA)
February 19, 2005

Scott Ritter, appearing with journalist Dahr Jamail yesterday in Washington State, dropped two shocking bombshells in a talk delivered to a packed house in Olympia’s Capitol Theater. The ex-Marine turned UNSCOM weapons inspector said that George W. Bush has "signed off" on plans to bomb Iran in June 2005, and claimed the U.S. manipulated the results of the recent Jan. 30 elections in Iraq.

Olympians like to call the Capitol Theater "historic," but it's doubtful whether the eighty-year-old edifice has ever been the scene of more portentous revelations.

The principal theme of Scott Ritter's talk was Americans’ duty to protect the U.S. Constitution by taking action to bring an end to the illegal war in Iraq. But in passing, the former UNSCOM weapons inspector stunned his listeners with two pronouncements. Ritter said plans for a June attack on Iran have been submitted to President George W. Bush, and that the president has approved them. He also asserted that knowledgeable sources say U.S. officials "cooked" the results of the Jan. 30 elections in Iraq.

6. This adds up with
the Israeli foot-dragging to begin moving settlers out of Palestine at almost exactly the same time. Deal? Keeping options open for reneging because of "crisis"?

So the various sectors of disinformation will keep the American people pretending to pretend they don't know this naked aggression is inevitable, planned, going through its stages like any NASA rocket.

The same media that admitted bungling their lead up to Iraq with WMD will do the very same pretense and drumbeat again.

Or there is another 911 underway to seal the deal which is fine with both the terror twins- Al Qaeda and Bushco.

7. Ritter has an "Excellent Track Record." If he says Iran then I believe him
but, I was thinking Syria. It wouldn't surprise me if it was both and we bring Israel into in all.

Hey! WTF...let's give the Chimp a REAL HARD ON! Implode the Middle East so Chimp can tell his fundies ..."Well...I TRIED????" Chimp Smirk...but hey...it just didn't work out the way we thought it would but "good luck to ya!" You'll get your "Armageddon...but it might be without the 'Second Coming' you were promised..." Sorry, tough luck!

9. Shocked about what?
I'm just glad it's not March, like they originally intended. <sarcasm>

Either way, Bush is supposed to have the final report from the people working on the "draft" submitted to his desk by March 31st, right?

ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT

An annual report providing the results of the implementation of these performance measures will be submitted by March 31, 2005. This report will address attained versus planned levels of performance, explain unattained target levels, and identify where and how strategies, performance goals, and performance indicators should be changed to ensure that the SSS reaches its strategic and annual goals and objectives.

It is always possible the WH is spreading rumors to put pressure on the Iranians, given our weak strategic position.

Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 10:25 PM by welshTerrier2
about 2 years ago, before the Iraq invasion, i attended a lecture by Scott Ritter and had a chance to spend an hour or more talking with him, debating with him and asking him all sorts of questions ...

Scott is deadly serious about democracy ... the message he gets across loudly and clearly is that most of us are fucking up our democracy ... most Americans think democracy just happens ... by failing to learn the issues and participate in the process, we are putting our democracy in great jeopardy ...

he is not the kind of person who would fabricate a news story for his own personal gain ... while we can't know for sure whether Ritter was given good information or disinformation, I'm confident that when Ritter says it he believes it's true ...

24. A good article from The Independent online edition
"Shirin Ebadi: Attacking Iran would bring disaster, not freedom"
It is hard not to see America's focus on human rights in Iran as a cloak for its larger strategic interests
19 February 2005

Condoleezza Rice has given assurances that a military attack by the United States on Iran "is simply not on the agenda at this point".

But notwithstanding Rice's disavowal, recent statements by the Bush administration, starting with President Bush's State of the Union address and Vice President Dick Cheney's comments about a possible Israeli military attack on Iran, are reminiscent of the rhetoric in the months leading up to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

And Rice herself made clear that "the Iranian regime's human rights behaviour and its behaviour toward its own population is something to be loathed."

<snip>

Not only would a foreign invasion of Iran vitiate popular support for human rights activism, but by destroying civilian lives, institutions and infrastructure, war would also usher in chaos and instability. Respect for human rights is likely to be among the first casualties.

46. Be prepared for an ice cold DRAFT
"The ex-Marine turned UNSCOM weapons inspector said that George W. Bush has "signed off" on plans to bomb Iran in June 2005, and claimed the U.S. manipulated the results of the recent Jan. 30 elections in Iraq."

Which means that you and yours will be getting notices from your friendly Selective Service officials pretty darn soon. Don't think it can happen? "Political suicide" for draft supporters? My guess is that the neocons are secretly hoping for another massive terrorist attack within US borders over the next several months (hitting mostly Blue States of course), made all the more likely by the brutality in Iraq. When and if this occurs, the propaganda engines will go into overdrive, and opponents of a draft will be shouted down for being unpatriotic-- then herded out to internment camps. As Orwell and Aldous Huxley both recognized, people forsake their capacity for critical thought and rational analysis when fear takes over.

Those of us who don't want our kids to be cannon fodder in the neocons' plans for global domination need to look at the possibility of emigration, seriously. (And don't worry about "bleeding out Blue State voters"-- remember, you can generally vote in US elections as an expat if you've been out less than 10 years.) Look beyond Canada-- they're clamping down on us and aren't letting too many Americans in. In the UK or Australia you'll probably be swept up in the draft just the same. My money's on warm Mediterranean EU countries, and Germany (which has lots of friendly inducements for qualified Americans who have some familiarity with German-- easy to pick up). France, Spain, Italy, Austria and Germany would be overjoyed to have a few thousand qualified American professionals contributing to their economy. I hope it doesn't come to something like this, but if the draft starts getting floated and/or war with Iran becomes realized as Ritter suggests, much better to use your skills and training productively rather than being shot at for the neocons' oil wars in the Middle East. Just 5 years ago-- I never, ever imagined it would be coming to something like this.

Dear God,

Are you reading this thread? I'm hoping you are taking a brake from your many activities and reading DU. The world is a complicated place these days, so you must take some brakes and DUers have some excellent ideas for you. I bet you created the blogsphere in your sleep. Or was that Al Gore?

Sorry, I digress.

What should we do about Team W and their insane quest to control the oil in the Mideast over the dead and maimed bodies of hundreds of thousands of your people? They only want control and power. Gee, one of them actually thinks you, get this, "talk to him" and tell him "no American will get killed in the war". Amazing.

But just in case I don't hear from you soon, very soon, I'm going to write and write and then write again my Congressional rep and my Senators from the great state of Illinois to demand that they seriously investigate these allegations.

And I'll remind them of my earlier communication that pleaded with them to investigate Team W's illegal and fraudulent use of the Congressional mandate funds from the war in Afghanistan, to the secret planning of the horrible war invasion of Iraq.

I'd love to hear from you God as I've tried to reach you more times than I care to remember. Maybe this time I'll be surprised and you can do something about W. Otherwise, it's really up to we humans to be active and demand a full investigation of Team W.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best,
Mary

I'm asking because I haven't been able to find reliable answers: Is the ticket that won the Iraqi elections the preferred choice of the American government? I know that Allawi's ticket only ranked in the teens, and I assumed that they were the favored ticket of our government? Maybe not though; I've just not been able to find out for sure.
