Know what I mean?

Do you think it was knowing what's coming with that clear sight of his that made him do what he did?

Or do you suspect other demons that we didn't fully know about?

1. More of the latter
I think he was very depressed about the state of things. But remember he was 67. I think he had many demons in him, and he didn't see them getting any better and the state of things probably didn't help much. But hey, try not to worry too much, ultimately Hunter Thompson couldn't see the future any more than the rest of us. he danced with doom his whole life. I think he just finally let it catch up with him. It's tragic and I'm depressed about it, but don't let Hunter Thompson dictate to you how you should face the future. None of us knows what's really going to happen.

5. Artists and other honest, observant individuals can read the writing
on the wall and now we are living through the foreseeable results of the "Reagan Era" that never went away.

If it was foreseeable, how did we end up here anyway? With the internet, all the smartypants and progressives finally came out of the woodwork, but we're still barrelling down the sinkhole (it's that giant sucking sound).

Since the Congress won't stand up to Bushco. and the American public won't stand up to Bushco., the question is, what is everyone afraid of? :scared: And yes I am referring to the second stolen election.

Maybe Thompson got tired of watching spoiled Mercans be so damned lame.

It would be inappropriate to insert a 'waiting for Kerry to lead the charge' SLAM...so I won't. Our leaders have sold us out.

8. Right, so if there is no lead dog
do the American sheeple just stand around or focus on their patch of grass?

Did all the rhetoric bout Big Gubmint succeed in making Americans forget WE ARE the government?

Point me toward the discussion I've missed on why two stolen elections were just a blip on the screen and we all "move on" and talk about "next time." Please.

No "sour grapes" here, I just would appreciate a Reality Check-- nationwide.

:+ :bounce: :wtf: :hi: :kick:

As fer leaders selling us out, again, what are they afraid of? I sense it's beyond crony corporatism.

:spank:

2. the latter
he was 67 years old, had lived a hard life, and might well have been facing serious illness.

He ended his life on his own terms, just as he lived it. There's something to be admired in that.

I don't think existential angst got to him - if that were so, he would've offed himself a long time ago.

3. Alcohol is a depressant
And HST drank like 10 motherfuckers. He also indulged in every drug known to mankind and then some, he also suffered from depression. That , my friend, is a fatal combination.

Not to mention, we are so fucked right now. And it's definitely going to get worse before it gets better, if it can ever get better. So, there is some truth to what you are saying as well.
