Maureen Dowd's Quote of the day
"I was rejected for a White House press pass at the start of the Bush administration, but someone with an alias, a tax evasion problem and Internet pictures where he posed like the "Barberini Faun" is authorized to cover a White House that won a second term by mining homophobia and preaching family values?" :wow:

2. That's a great quote - to paraphrase 1992 - "It's the hypocrisy stupid"

As a FYI - the original oped piece came out on 2/17. Often the NY writers are syndicated and they show up on subsequent days in other papers.

4. Actually, that's not the quote of the day.
This might be (from the same article)

Even the Nixon White House didn't do anything this creepy. It's worse than hating the press. It's an attempt to reinvent it.

Now, think about this. Which is worse? Hypocrisy writ large, or subverting a free press?
