Dubya Admits Smoking Grass, Lying to Public About Drug Use
By Staff and Wire Reports
Feb 21, 2005, 07:36

President Bush admitted in interviews secretly taped by a friend before he became president that he had used marijuana but laughed about lying to the public about his drug use.
Portions of the tapes, recorded from 1998 to 2000 by author Doug Wead without Bush's knowledge, were aired on ABC News on Sunday and published by The New York Times. Their authenticity was verified by the media outlets.

"I wouldn't answer the marijuana question. You know why? Because I don't want some little kid doing what I tried," Bush purportedly says on the tape. He added: "But you got to understand, I want to be president. I want to lead. I want to set -- Do you want your little kid say, 'Hey, Daddy, President Bush tried marijuana, I think I will?"'

Bush mocked former Vice President Al Gore -- who fought him for the presidency in 2000 -- for admitting he smoked marijuana, saying the admision was "a foolish move."

White House officials did not dispute the tapes' veracity and indicated the president was disappointed by their release.

"These were casual conversations that then Gov. Bush was having with someone he thought was a friend, and that's what they are," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters traveling with Bush to Europe aboard Air Force One.

12. It's the pattern of deception which is relevant,...
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 06:41 PM by Just Me
,...not the pot-smoking.

He is willing to deceive anyone in order to serve his own interests and agenda.

A pathological liar represents a major character flaw, with or without the pot-smoking.

18. Look,I'm no Bush fan but all politicians deceive in order---
serve their own interests, all of them.

They lie, they evade, they skew, they apologize, and then they start all over again.

4. Obviously for W
marijuana was just a gateway drug.

Now he's totally screwed up on those prescription meds that they pump him up with. Too bad, if he just went back to smoking pot, the world would be a much more peaceful place.

28. Actually, no. He's more likely a cokehead drunk.
Coke destroys a person's empathy, while alcohol can inflame anger and aggressive behavior. Marijuana, on the other hand, enhances a person's empathy and mellows people out. (Of course, there are rare exceptions.)

If anything, I wish b**sh would smoke pot NOW! Maybe then he'd realize the harm he's causing, or at least be too stoned to do more.

8. I don't care if he smoked pot.
That has nothing to do with anything. Who cares? This man has done some truly horrible things; why is smoking pot the issue that's suddenly becoming some stupid "scandal"? How about we focus on the illegal war, the environmental destruction and the explosion of the national debt under his watch?

10. as relates to bush's satement "I want to lead" ... that has apparently
been one of his obsessions for a long time... remember when at the beginning of his first time he'd go around repeating ad naseum, "i am a leader, not a divider". "i am a uniter, not a divider. i am a leader".

I think leaders don't just sit around saying "I want to lead. I am a uniter not a divider" ... I think leaders just happen to lead, almost effortlessly like something that just happens... in bush's case ... wow! if he hasn't divided and divided and divided... and he may be leading but only because he is exerting a tyran'ts iron hand to do so." pooh-pooh on bush's leadership. a leader he is not.

14. This is very important to me, because it is solid proof that we
are right, B* is a minipulative lying fake. We were intuitive enough to figure this out a long time ago. But there are many, many people who think we are making shit up about him. This is just a small piece of documented evidence that will eventually go with other pieces of evidence that prove we were always right about this crazy man.

the Fundies get to say, "Oh, he sinned in his youth. We forgive him, as God does. He cared that our children not make the mistake that he had. What a Christian."

What fuckin tripe. HE, HIMSELF has never had the honesty to come out and admit it, still! He is a puny-pipsqueak of a pretend wanna-be-man.

Focus on the prize: Impeachment.
That's not coming from learning about shit he did 30 years ago.
But it might come from the Gannon story.

"Friends" don't "secretly" tape other friends. To me, it sounds like Dick Wead wants to cash in on the Bush presidency. What a moron. A real lowlife scumbag. Greed is never pretty.

Reply 36 - Posted by: ivehadit, 2/20/2005 7:17:35 PM

You have betrayed our President, Mr. Wead. And you call yourself a Christian?
NOT. You are the antithesis.

You are a disgrace.

What profit it a man to gain the world and lose his soul?

And, btw, I would NEVER tape a friend, never ever. What kind of scumbag are you??
A democrat, I suppose.

So what! Why don't you write the story about the rapist ex-pres snorting cocaine? His brother Roger said he had a nose like a vacumm cleaner, thats why its so red. Hes probably still snorting.

I would be disappointed in W if he hadn't tried weed. It would show an unhealthy deference to authority and lack of intellectual curiosity if he didn't.

I don't care if he was mainlining battery acid, he's still a better man than any 5 RATS.

It is killing the hate-filled LSM that President Bush is so successful in the war on terror -- notably the successful elections in Afghanistan and Iraq. They will be spending quite a bit of time trying to ruin the legacy of a great President. They tried to do this to Ronald Reagan too.

Reply 92 - Posted by: GettaClue, 2/21/2005 11:52:11 AM

Another plus in my book. Anyone who didn't 'try' stuff in their younger years, usually ends up doing much worse things when they're older. It's called sewing your wild oats.

They was a time - back in the day - when I smoked a good bit of pot and loved it. We would go to parties and the stoners would be upstairs listening to music and talking, while downstairs where the keg was, the beer drinkers were puking and fighting. We would just laugh and pass the Doritos...

'Hey, Daddy, President Bush tried marijuana, I think I will.'

My sister-in-law has decided to tell the kids that Bush smoked dope in the hopes of it convincing them not to try it. Of course, her kids have been raised well and all of them think Bush is a jerk.

Why d'ya think they call it dope? (Remember that antidrug ad?)

It taped conversation sounds completely set up. I'm not buying it. This conversation, like everything else that has to do with Bush, is a tool of manipulation. I'm sure it won't be long before it all comes together and makes sense.

31. The manipulation is with WEAD
Remember the bullshit story about how Bush came to Jesus through the help of "Billy Graham?" Well, substitute WEAD in that story--he's the guy, not Graham--ROVE changed the story because he did not care for Wead, and chimp has started repeating it.

The tapes are REAL, they've been voiceprint analyzed by the NYT. No one, not even the WH, disputes them.

Rove knew Wead was a little bit of a charletan/loose cannon. Once he started running the political operation, he distanced the Dumbya from the guy. Wead probably (surely!) resents it.

Then, Wead writes a book on presidential childhoods. He's got these tapes, hundreds of them apparently, but he carefully selects TWELVE of them, that reveal INFORMATION WE ALREADY KNOW. The far right may not know it, but everyone else does--I mean, hey, who the hell of his age DIDN'T smoke pot back in the day? And the coke?? Come on, if you did not do coke, and someone asks you if you did, the only fucking answer that makes sense is NO...anything else is dissembling of the highest order.

Wead, his nose out of joint because he no longer has access, with a book to sell, and with a mind to not TOTALLY burn bridges (he's got a SHITLOAD of tapes, and I have to bet he's got some really good dirt if the WH wants to get ugly on him--which they haven't, if ya notice!) releases a few that will catch the attention-deficit eye of the lamestream media. They run with it like it is a HOT SCOOP, because you can HEAR HIS VOICE. Pictures would have been better still, but audio is better than, say, a boring piece of paper.

The final result is that people who would not have heard of Wead's book have now heard of it--he got easily a half million bucks worth of publicity with that little tape release, got appearance fees for shlepping around to the networks and cable stations, and plugged his book to boot. You can't pay for publicity that good. It was all about WEAD, and he used his old friend (who abandoned him) to make a buck.

There's no more THERE there. That's it. Surprise, surprise, Chimp did pot and coke. No, really? Wow. Amen. Next story...!!!!!

It was a great little cheap and easy long weekend blurb for the media whores--way easier than actually DOING ANY WORK. But it's done. There's no way to milk it, it's just horse's mouth confirmation of what we all knew anyway.
