Smokin' piece from Bill...

'Is Our Children Learning' The Bill Of Rights?
No, They Isn't
By Bill Maher
2-22-5

A new survey found that a majority of high schoolers think newspapers should not be allowed to publish without government approval. And almost one in five said that Americans should be prohibited from expressing unpopular opinions.

Lemme tell you little darlings something: This is my livelihood you're messing with, so either learn the Bill of Rights or you don't deserve Social Security.

Now, to those of you who think I'm overreacting: Yes, I understand that when you're in high school you're still very young and that no one really cares what kids say anyway -- it's not like priests are dating you for your brains.

But the younger generation is supposed to rage against the machine, not for it; they're supposed to question authority, not question those who question authority.

5. This is a seriously disturbing survey!!!
Bill also brought this up on his show (which was fantastic!!!!).

I wish he had a more broadly disseminated show/publication. Although I get a little testy at times about some of the things he says (fighting a RW propaganda machine for years makes one a bit testy), I still admire his ability to make poignant points while simultaneously making me laugh!!!

7. Molly Ivins quotes Hubert Humphrey
I think this is worth repeating. Molly Ivins brings it in one of her great columns. (The last sentence is hers.)

Hubert Humphrey said, "The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life -- the sick, the needy, the handicapped." Bush seems to think they're all targets.

8. This goes hand in hand with the new law
that * wants enacted, that will test all of our children for "mental" illness. HAH!! What a laugh!!

Call me a conspiracy theorist, nutcase, whatever you want, but to me this sounds like a chance to implant chips or something that will either echo subliminal thoughts or keep track of the future Americans.

1984 anyone?
