America: The Book
I just got it at Costco (YEAH F YOU WAL-MART!) it's the most hilarious thing I've ever read. Has anyone else got it, and if so, what's your favorite joke in it?

I personally like the caption that says "The town crier's hear ye hear ye, was the colonial equivalent of today's FOX NEWS ALERT, except without the shrieking metallic sound effect akin to fingernails scratching a chalkboard in Hell."

4. My wife nearly killed me
I was laughing so hard reading it, she came into the bedroom, took it from me and began reading it to me, not stopping until I was crying from laughter and about to pass out.

What a great book.

2. There's a pic on a right-hand page showing a woman doing laundry.
The caption reads something like:

Before suffrage, Election Day was Bake Something Day (or some shit like that). The caption reads further that most women were happier when all they had to do was cook, clean, and pump out kids.

I wish I could remember the exact words. For a guy who often wonders how any woman could have voted for bush, it comes off as extremely hilarious (depsite it's obvious sexist tones).

3. I got the book for Christmas
but haven't been able to read all of it yet. My Dad read it in a few days. I'll have to ask him what he thought. I recently got him watching the "Daily Show" so hehe. I love that show. :loveya: I'll have to read the book more when I have some time at night.

6. Best. Book. Ever.
No matter what Jon Stewart and the Daily Show crew do, they just crack me up. Their perspective on things is so refreshing. And I think Jon is my soulmate *sigh*. . .

8. The fake start to the chapter on Media (ch 6?)
where the writer appears to totally lose it, and re-starts the chapter on the next page.

You're attractive but non-threatening wife and children
You teabagging a hooker.

10. I bought a bunch of them and gave them
as Christmas presents. Also I schlepped 2 copies to the Daily Show in NYC when I had tickets to be in the studio audience. But they had a no-autograph rule, so I was SOL.

Funny, funny book. AND the greatest TV show ever. Last night's description of the 7 years of tribulation following the rapture had me in convulsions. Who emerged as the anti-christ during this time? They only showed the evil one's silhouette, but it looked a teensy bit like Sponge Bob!

11. Definitely sounds like a book I NEED!!!
My sense of humor has been, uh, infected by all the negative shit.

I missed Jon's show last night (I am sorta' an early to bed type). Hope I can catch it elsewhere. I'd like see more comedians (esp. Robin Williams) land more shows. Political humor is desperately needed during these insane times.
