There we go again. bush can't finish press conference
hope it this not a dupe post.

Bush had just finished a lengthy answer to a question about how he would improve trans-
Atlantic relations in his second term. "Thank you all very much," Bush concluded, turning as if to leave the podium.

But NATO (news - web sites) Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer wasn't quite ready to wrap things up — especially since the reporter had specifically directed a question to him. "Let me ..." he started to say.

"I'm sorry," Bush said — twice — then turned to humor to get himself out of the jam.

He pretended the NATO leader had flashed a universal hand motion signaling he didn't want to answer.

Bush Prematurely Closes News Conference

"You don't know what this means?" Bush joked to reporters, giving his ear lobe a quick tug. "That means 'end the press conference.'"

De Hoop Scheffer went along. "I signaled to the president this was too difficult a question," he said.

But he took his chance to answer, nonetheless. After a several-sentence statement, de Hoope Scheffer concluded the session with the customary thank-you.

Still, Bush couldn't resist having the last word.

Speaking of charm, Bush was a master at spinning a question about lingering European doubts about him into the conclusion he is being warmly received on his continental tour.

"Thank you. I appreciate it. First time I've been called charming in a while," Bush said to laughter.

Problem is, the reporter had said just the opposite.

"Now we're finished," he said.

4. I Was About to Post:
"He pretended the NATO leader had flashed a universal hand motion signaling he didn't want to answer."

Maybe he had in mind the universal hand motion for the reach-around.

But you pre-empted me. Second time in a row tonight. It must be a full moon -- everyone's eerily in synch.

8. Bush is a moron
who has no respect for other people when he's visiting their country. He acts like he's King of the world. Ugh.

12. It's only their country for NOW.
Anyway, of course he's the king of the world. He is divinely appointed to bring the light of liberty to the teeming, unenlightened globe.

And by "liberty", of course, we mean multinational old-boy crony capitalism, unburdened by environmental regulation and blessed with cheap -if not slave- labor... with a healthy dash of self-righteous Fundamentalist Christianity thrown in for good measure.

3. Did you catch that last article about Laura?
Prepare to gag...

(snip)

Mrs. Bush also offered knowing sympathy to the families who put up with the long absences, frequent moves and other sacrifices that go along with having a member of the military in their midst.

"I know a little bit about having your life turned upside down because the person you love wants to serve the country he loves," she said.

Talk about "divorced from reality"! Her pathetic hubby didn't serve his country; it was he who was served in the bars in Alabama.

6. This is an interesting article.
I got 1 thing out of this little article: Bush knows he's hated. For a while, I wasn't so sure.

"First time I've been called charming in a while". He's completely aware of how most of Europe, and the rest of the world, probably a vast majoryt of the US feels. He's despised. People wake up every morning cursing his name.

If someone has bad luck or if things don't turn out so well, they blame Bush. Just imagine how that would feel: 6.21 billion people hate you.

He deserves it.

14. "Too difficult a question??????"
WTF is that bullshit? J'ever see The Lawfully-Twice-Elected Bill Clinton get a question he couldn't handle extemporaneously? Is this even more of that "soft bigotry of low expectations?"
