GOP shopping for celebrities to run for PA governor |
|
:wtf:
First they carpetbagged Alan Keyes in Illinois, now on CSPAN (Hotline) I'm hearing they are looking for a "celebrity" to run for governor of Pennsylvania.
Arnold Palmer - give me a break.
Joe Paterno - are you serious?
Lynn Swann - sheesh. Great receiver, but governor? He has opened an exploratory committee - Lynn Swan 88 or such.
sheesh

1. Is Rendell that popular? |

I'm from out of state, if you couldn't tell by the username... why wouldn't they run Sanitarium or Specter? Or, how about a Republican Rep?

3. They're trying to protect Rick Santorum's seat |
|
Joe Paterno is a joke! The guy is 80 years old and hasn't had a decent football season in ages. Central PA jokingly rejected his son Scott Paterno as their US Representative.
Ed Rendell is pretty popular and gets extremely great turn out in the Philadelphia region. I have a sneaking suspision there is an alternative reason to run a celebrity against Rendell and that is hopefully to help protect Rick Santorum's Senate seat.
See, Fast Eddie will probably campaign heavily with whoever the ultimate democratic candidate who will run against Rick Santorum for US Senate and that person is looking like very popular and very well known Bob Casey Jr (Dad was a 2-term Governor of PA). If they can't find someone who can give Rendell a run for his money, it could very well be that a 1-2 punch of Rendell/Casey running for Gov/Senate could very well have a top tier leader in the Republican senate ousted
