There Was a Fake or Suspect New Site Posted on DU

a year or so ago. The original poster gave the URL and asked "what is it that's wrong with this page? It has all the elements of a newspaper page, but it looks like a front." I believe it was somewhere in the midwest, possibly Arkansas or Missouri.

I had to agree. The site looked professional but there was no detail, or depth. It didn't have the color of a local paper or the focus of a specialized publication. There were no back pages and no archives. There was something wrong with it.

At the time, I couldn't figure out why anyone would create such a site. But now that Talon News seems to have been set up primarily as a vehicle for legitimizing James Guckert, I'm wondering about who might have used this site simply to establish credentials. It might be worth searching for names of people associated with it. But for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the site.

Is this ringing a bell with anyone?

but I can certainly applaud and encourage this line of thinking. You may be onto something really significant here. I'm offering odds of 10-1 that the DU collective memory pops it up.
