So, is the Chimp pressuring Russia to stop working with Iran on weapons, as General Clark has been saying he should? I mean, we keep hearing what a great "relationship" Chimp and "Pooty-Poot" have, right? Even though Putin is smart and ruthless while the Chimp is a misguided idiot, we can have hope when we read articles like this one:
Bush, Putin: Iran Should Not Have Nukes
By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer
BRATISLAVA, Slovakia - Seeking common ground amid sensitive differences on democracy, President Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed Thursday on new efforts to keep nuclear arms away from terrorists as well as sovereign nations like Iran and North Korea.
"We agreed that Iran should not have a nuclear weapon. I appreciate Vladimir's understanding on that," Bush said. "We agreed that North Korea should not have a nuclear weapon."
As the leaders met at a medieval castle overlooking the snow-covered capital and the Danube River, aides inked an agreement designed to counter nuclear terrorism, in part by restricting the availability of shoulder-fired missiles capable of bringing down aircraft.
"We agreed to accelerate our work to protect nuclear weapons and materials both in our two nations and around the world," Bush said.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&ncid=703&e=1&u=/ap/20050224/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bushOkay, that should be reassuring -- but wait! What's this? Another article from today...

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia, ignoring U.S. concerns, is set to sign a deal with Tehran this weekend that will pave the way for the start-up of Iran (news - web sites)'s first nuclear power plant.
President Vladimir Putin last week cleared the way for the $1 billion Russian-built Bushehr reactor project to go ahead when he said he was sure that Tehran -- branded part of an "axis of evil" by Washington -- had no plans to make atomic arms.
President Vladimir Putin last week cleared the way for the $1 billion Russian-built Bushehr reactor project to go ahead when he said he was sure that Tehran -- branded part of an "axis of evil" by Washington -- had no plans to make atomic arms.
His nuclear energy chief, Alexander Rumyantsev, was finally due to visit Iran to sign the deal Saturday, crowning years of tense politicking in which Moscow has defended the lucrative project in the face of strong pressure from Washington.
The United States says it fears the 1,000-megawatt Bushehr plant in southern Iran could be used as a cover by Tehran to build atomic weapons. Tehran has denied this. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=574&ncid=721&e=3&u=/nm/20050224/wl_nm/nuclear_russia_iran_dcIt's okay.... We just have to trust.
