Could not resist posting. bush can not invite divorcees to WH
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1029085.cms

No red carpet welcome at the White House for England's Prince Charles and his betrothed, Camilla Parker Bowles. All because President George Bush does not want to play host to them as they are divorcees. But isn't the attitude incongruous in this day and age of divorces? Bangalore's prominent citizens, far ahead of the times, think so, they told BT.

1. Wow, that cuts off a whole bunch of Republicans then.
Gingrich, Dole, even Saint Reagan if he were still alive.

Fucking hypocrites.

4. So exactly how many Republican legislators and politicos or
contributors are divorced? Do they routinely get invites to the castle? Isn't there a list somewhere of dinners, etc? BTW, isn't little bro Neil divorced? Must make for some interesting holiday dinners.

7. This can't possibly be for real.
Please tell me that it's either satire, or that the reporters for a paper in India got a report about the U.S. slightly garbled. I mean, he would have to shut off the WH to countless prominent Repugs and conservatives if he adopted such a policy. How many people in his cabinet would he have to cut off from WH access?

10. I think someone had a link a few days ago...
... to this story on a satire site. It was very convincingly done.

Maybe the Times of India fell for the gag too?

15. That sounds like the most likely scenario.
I guess that sort of thing is one consequence of the proliferation of sites and the laziness of news organizations worldwide about checking their sources. Also, things have gotten so crazy in this country that some satire sites are hard to distinguish from real ones.

8. Looks like all of those repubs who have been married 3-4 times
have been "banned" from the WH! Didn't he have the Mexican Prez at the WH? Isn't he divorced? Male prostitutes, ok. Divorcee, no. Whatever! Just another pile of BUSHIT served up!

11. It would be nice to have the whole story.
I don't know all the ins and outs of English monarchy but being divorced and marrying a divorcee' is a sticky wicket in regards to being on the throne. The Queen isn't going to her own son's wedding, and I presume (perhaps incorrectly?)it has something to do with that.

Where did this writer first pick up that Bush wouldn't host them because they were divorced? Is it an assumption, or did he come right out and say it? Could it have anything to do with this monarchy situation?

Just asking.

14. YET another story proving what a jerk and ill-breed person this president
is. He will cause even more hatred for the office. Look at the way he has to be protected when overseas already.

17. I would be careful of getting too upset
over this story. This came from a UK source last week. Does anyone have an original source for it? This may have come from one of the English gossip rags.

If it's true --- it's both hideous and hypocritical in its implications.

18. I don't buy it
It was in an english tabloid last week. It might be true. But I'm skeptical. I really doubt Bush would do this, especially considering there are tons of divorcees who have been visiting the WH.

21. Being a monarch is worse than being a divorcee IMO.
Why should a monarch be given a red carpet welcome in our republic? =)

If I was a brit I'd prolly be a little put off by it though.
