I've posted positive notes to you guys several times over the last couple days. I've posted a couple threads that the scream posts were getting a little too gratuitous. I alerted on one and said they needed to be locked. I have no desire to kick somebody when they're down. It's the fighting that matters and the determination to keep fighting, no matter the outcome.

14. That's the spirit

I'm uncommitted, but it upset me to see the initial reactions to Iowa from the Dean camp around here. Not everybody, by a long shot, but enough to concern me. Some had a defeatist and resentful attitude.

It bothered me because one of the biggest things I admire about Dean is the enthusiasm he brought back to the party. He singlehandedly energized us - not just his supporters - with his bold and successful campaign. I know a lot of his supporters are also new to Presidential politics, and I would hate to see them disillusioned so soon, by what amounts to a bump in the road.

It's not going to get any easier. People just have to hang tough, if they believe in what they are doing. Nobody in a contested field will win all the primaries. There will be really good days and really bad ones. If you spend too much time fretting over bad ones, you'll never get to enjoy the good ones.

Maybe the old line is trite: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going!" But in practice, we often find that ultimate victory goes to those best able to weather adversity, minimizing the damage and looking always for opportunities.

I'm glad to see that positive attitude returning to the Dean camp. I wish you all well (still uncommitted though).

Plus, you're more pleasant to be around when you're in a good mood . . .
