Kansas Official Demands Abortion Records

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas attorney general is demanding abortion clinics turn over the complete medical records of nearly 90 women and girls, saying he needs the material for an investigation into underage sex and illegal late-term abortions.

Two clinics are fighting the request in Kansas Supreme Court, saying the state has no right to such personal information.

But Attorney General Phill Kline, an abortion opponent, insisted Thursday: "I have the duty to investigate and prosecute child rape and other crimes in order to protect Kansas children."

Kline is seeking the records of girls who had abortions and women who received late-term abortions. Sex involving someone under 16 is illegal in Kansas, and it is illegal in the state for doctors to perform an abortion after 22 weeks unless there is reason to believe it is needed to protect the mother's health.

What an ass! I have just reaffirmed that leaving that hick town 20 years ago was the best move I ever made! This doesn't surprise me one bit! The first question your new neighbor's ask when you move to Kansas is "what church do you attend?" It is sad that the city of Kansas City, Kansas/ Missouri is such a beautiful place. I think they should move that city to a place where it can be appreciated!

The government can't randomly grab medical files looking for random crimes without cause, can they?

I mean if this is legal, what's to stop them from demanding all my medical files just on a whim to see if perhaps my doctor was guilty of malpractice, or to check if my long-time spouse or I suddenly got some kind of STD, which would mean one of us had an affair, which is illegal?

Or randomly requiring people to do drug tests without cause.

Is there a legal difference I'm missing?

Phill Kline is a moran.

Right after he was elected, he hired his nephew - who had a record for drug possession and DUIs- to work on his staff. Double L conveniently spelled his nephew's name wrong so the connection to him was unknown until a reporter checked it out.

He has been gunning for Planned Parenthood since he was sworn in as AG and made no secret that he would do just that during his campaign.

He refused to do his job and defend the state of Kansas when they were sued by the racist FAIR group trying to overturn the law giving in state tuition to children of illegal immigrants.

He censored material donated to libraries in the state as part of a legal settlement.

And he has consistently used this lame excuse of investigating child molestation in an attempt to harrrass abortion providers in the state.

Ole Double L is the worst AG we have had since Vern MIller. (He was the idiot who went after ailines for serving drinks in the air above Kansas back in the 70s.)

I was only in Ky once, and I must say, I thought it was really beautiful rolling hills. We got stuck in the Cinci AP and had to stay overnight. Stayed at a really nice motel with a great restaurant that had a little drawbridge at the entrance. He drinks there too! Guess I was lucky this guy wasn't AG then!

There are some pretty hills here, but not as many as KY :)

The drink thing was really stupid. For many years, liquor by the drink was not legal in KS. Bars were private clubs. When you went into a bar, you had to buy a membership and then you purchased liquor by the shot or brought your own bottle. (And of course, part of that membership fee went to the state ABC Board!) If you didn't want to buy a membership, you could purchase 3.2% beer, but no hard liquor or 5% beer. This was the deal when Vern Miller was state AG back in the 70s. He tried to force the airlines to set up private clubs in the air for the passengers who wanted to drink while flying over KS. When they wouldn't do that, he began charging them for violating the state liquor laws for serving liquor by the drink in KS airspace.

Fortunately, in the 80s, the ridiculous anti-liquor laws in KS were changed and you can drink in most places now without a membership. There are still several rural counties that are dry, though.

This is how it will all start folks. I need to see those records of those who had an abortion. When we find out the teenager who got the other teenager pregnant we will prosecute him and throw him in jail for having raging teenage hormones.
Don't think for a minute it will stop with the abortion clinics. I bet they are already taking down license plate numbers of cars outside the gay bars and putting together their lists. When King Chimp crowns himself King in 08 because he has done away with the constitution and the two term Presidency. It will be to late to flee to Canada.

18. Oh, there is no under estimating the Right in KA.

A few years ago, the Governor literally abolished the state School Board because they wanted to teach creationism in classes as a co-equal "theory." Seems the Gov, a Republican, was having a very hard time getting any 'knowledge industry' types to relocate to Kansas and this would just make it worse. Oops, now we know Whats Wrong with Kansas...they elect crazy people to the top law enforcement position (as opposed to the national legislature which approves torture enablers).
