Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 01:14 PM by Beetwasher
He's talking about making a deal re: SS. We must kick this fucker out in the primaries. What a disgusting piece of shit. I'm sorry, I've never really participated in the Lieberman bashing, but this is the last straw. LIBERMAN MUST BE DEFEATED IN THE NEXT CT PRIMARY. THIS MUST BE A DEM PRIORITY. HE MUST GO. END OF STORY.

He needs to be made an example of because he doesn't represent Democratic goals or values. It still freaks me out that Gore chose him for VP.

13. I've stuck up for the guy before, but I'm at the end of my rope with him.
If he really does cave (and I think we might be a tad premature in claiming he has) on SS, then I'd support a loud, noisy, early 2006 primary challenge.

It's high time this party showed some damned discipline.

In the meantime, Reid needs to move Joe and his staff to a broom closet and pull him from any committees he's on, if Joe doesn't straighten up pronto.

40. Mega-dittos from me...
Democrats can disagree among ourselves over whether corporations are the evil to end all evil (or not), or if we should always blame America first (or not). But Social Security really is the defining characteristic of the party. If Joe plays kissy-face with Bush over that, then he can go to Zell.

9. I am fairly generous with time and the checkbook
But I have two litmus test issues-- absolutes ----> hair trigger ---> preemptively launch on warning.

1. Stem cell research and access to therapies developed by stem cell research.

Obviously acce$$ to health care, too

2. Social Security.

I have no problem with "add on" private accounts - even tax credits to low income people to contribute to "add on" private accounts. But anything that even smells like a "carve out" private account --- take me off your friggin e-mail list.

STEM CELL RESEARCH and SOCIAL SECURITY - my trump card litmus test issues.

I've been haranguing about this turd since he handed Florida over in 2000. He was in the veep slot solely to pick up Florida. You remember very well don't you how he organized those great rally's and fought so hard? :eyes:

That plus his Likud first, last , and always policies are revolting. What the fuck is up with Connecticut?

30. Talk to Lieberman's staffers. He's dancing.
I've talked to several of them. They won't give a straight answer on this issue. The only plausible reason is that Joe is considering a "compromise" either with Bush (unlikely) or with Lindsey Graham (likely). Which is why I'm going to enjoy funding St. Joe's primary challenger.

29. My email to Lieberman
To the Honorable Senator Joseph Lieberman,

It has come to the attention of many internet activists that you plan to sell out the Democratic Party on Social Security and side with the Bush Administration to dismantle this vital program. Because of this, I am personally serving you notice that an effort to field a primary candidate against you is currently gaining steam on the Internet Blogs.

Should you proceed on your current course, please note that this will be a rallying cry to raise funds to insure you are defeated in your 2006 primary.

Sincerely,
Walter E. Starr

35. He was Al Gore's choice for VP for God's sake
Why can't you cut him some slack. By all rights, he should be the VP of the USA. Yes, he sometimes goes against the party's mainstream, just like McCain does with the GOP at times, but the people of Connecticut like him and he will remain their Senator for as long as he wishes to stay. I have a lot of respect for Sen. Lieberman and one of my friends is in the Einstein program out of his office.

to explain why we should count all the military votes, whether or not they were "legal" - with post dates obviously after the election that should not have been counted - but Holy Joe agreed with the Repubs on that issue. I will never forget that.

41. Why in the hell does he DESERVE slack???
He endorsed a person for AG who had shown nothing but complete disregard for US law, and had endorsed torture.

He stood up and chastized the other members of his own party who dared to question Condi Rice's fitness for Sec of State, based on her outright lying to help launch the Iraq war.

He helped pimp a war of choice that has now resulted in close to 1500 dead US service members, countless thousands of Iraqis killed, and thousands more on each side maimed and wounded.

Now, he's dancing around the issue of whether or not to maintain one of the most successful government programs in history, because it would mean actually fucking standing up to Republicans instead of playing nicey-nice.

Given all of the above, and this is just a cursory list, can you please tell me why in the fuck we should give him some slack? What in the hell has he done to DESERVE it??? :grr:
