I've Come To The Conclusion That If Hillary Ran In 2008 - She Would Win
Why?

Because apparently I know less about politics than I thought I did. And my gut is telling me to steer clear of Hillary in 2008 and run some other Democrat whose not as well-known and not as polarizing.

So if my gut is telling me to steer clear of her its obvious that she has to be the one.

My gut instincts suck.

I'm 0-3 in presidential contests. I've voted for a Democrat, Republican and Green candidate and been wrong each time.

Now I'm going to say, flat-out, that my gut is wrong and Hillary has to be the one. She's not my first choice, or my second, third or fourth.

But she would win if she ran. She would get more female votes than Kerry did, and since more women vote than men, that would be enough to carry us to victory. Plus, the chance to have Bill Clinton back in the White House would probably be enough to keep the black and hispanic vote at high-enough levels.

But I don't want to analyze it too much, or else I might trick my gut into thinking she's the one. And I don't want that, because my gut is always wrong.

So, in conclusion...

Go Mark Warner!

2. I think it all depends on who she runs against
Hillary vs. Guliani=Hillary would win. Guliani is mostly a media myth. If he had to take the stand and open to the spotlight in a real presidential run I think he would be destroyed pretty quickly.

Hillary vs. Jeb=Hillary would win. Despite the fact that many liberals fear Jeb will run in '08, most polls show he isn't the favorite of Republicans and for some reason doesn't attract that kind of following that his little bro does. Perhaps he's too smart, and Bush voters don't like that.

Hillary vs. McCain=This one I don't know about. I think Hillary would do very well against McCain, but would she win the red states over him? I don't know about that. Maybe, maybe not. A lot of that will depend on what happens over the next four years and how much damage Bush causes the country.

6. The Right Wing hates REAL thinking (not shills) women in power
almost as much as they hate us Liberal Democrats. It ain't gonna happen in the next decade. Perhaps a woman VP - but only after we've chased the Neo-Cons back into their hidey holes.

8. Geraldine Ferraro was VERY popular Female VP choice in 1984!
20 years ago! Why they've waited another 20 years to try it again, baffles me.

Boxer! Boxer! Boxer!

10. They painted her as a lying Lawyer with Hubby in trouble with the law
and a son doing drugs that proved she did not have red state family values.

4. Rick Lazio was a fucking joke...
Remember, he was the second-choice that the GOP inserted after Giuliani dropped out of the race before he officially entered.

Hillary in 2008 would make McGovern and Dukakis look like near-victories by comparison. Wingers think she's a wild-eyed liberal, so they'd organize heavily against her. Left progressives see her as an opportunist corporatist/centrist, so we'd largely sit on our hands and let the centrists dig their own hole.

She'd go down in a complete landslide.

14. I've never understood this argument
"Wingers think she's a wild-eyed liberal, so they'd organize heavily against her.Left progressives see her as an opportunist corporatist/centrist, so we'd largely sit on our hands"

Hello? They did that to Kerry, and they barely squeaked by-some think they would have lost w/o voting machines.

You think the wingnuts all stayed at home in 04? You think the leftists are ever going to change?

I don't see this as a threat. Especially after the shambles * leaves the country in

Different between Kerry and Hillary...
Kerry has a record of actually taking a few stands here and there. Now, we (meaning left-progressives) may not have liked some of his more recent stances on issues, but we were willing to unite to oust Bush, in spite of Kerry's failure to offer something substantially different on the issue of Iraq.

But this election showed that "AB_" won't cut it anymore. Furthermore, I don't think Hillary's every really taken a stand on ANYTHING as a Senator. And I live in NY, so I've followed her record on the issues.

If you think Kerry gets the wingers upset, just start bandying the word "Clinton" around again, and see how they react.

9. My gut instinct is very good, and I don't see Hillary winning '08
Since she has a 40% built in disadvantage with voters that won't vote for a woman (60% said they would vote for a woman). That means 85% minimum of the 60% would have to vote Hillary in order for her to win. I don't think that this is a realistic figure that she can garnet.

As for Mark Warner, what do you know about him that makes you want him as President? Do you know his positions on the various current issues? Do you know if he has any National Security or Foreign policy experience? What are some of the legislations that he has endorsed as Governor? Do you know where he stands on issues like abortion, affirmative action, the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, election reforms and media reforms?

I want to know these things, because many Democrats are touting Warner, but everytime I ask, no one knows much about him except that he is a somewhat moderate Southern Governor who made oodles of money in the communications industry and he won an election in the South (although Virginia is less red than other states).

I am curious, because I don't want to be a blind man following other blind people voting for someone based on vague hopes that he is the answer. Although I liked the 1992 elections results when Clinton, a moderate southern governor won the presidency, 2008 will not be 1992. Please post some information on this man so others can get to know him, because a moderate southern governor who could look presidential is not enough for me to hop onto the Warner bandwagon.

Thank you.

12. If you think America will vote for any woman your nuts. She has
as much hope as Al Sharpton, the majority of Americans male and female are misogynistic and racist. I know that's not a comforting thought but it is the unfortunately the hard cold truth.
