They were trying to get Hillary for fundraising so now this comes out. Yippie. :kick: I've been watching "Hunting of the President" and so I hope more news like this comes out and the neocons all go down in the next four years. Serves them right.

9. Let Em Burn
Although the Delayites chalk this us up to a partiasan witchhunt (one would think they'd actually know what one looks like after they hounded Clinton for 8 years), still it will be fun to have Delay in the limelight while he undergoes prosecution. Then the systematic scheming his cohorts have done changing the ethics rules will also see the light of day. In his highly visible position, he can't hide from this.

18. Richard Morrison is still going after him...website.
Be careful of the contribution links, though. I saw at Kos that they might have been hijacked. Just go to the website.

http://www.richardmorrisonfordistrict22.com/

Dear Friends,

Tom DeLay is a busy man. He has been busy lately, raising $1million for his legal defense fund, putting his considerable bad influence behind the GOP effort to gut Social Security, and preventing Houston from receiving federal funding for its rail program.

Tom isn't resting and we can't either. We're taking on the "most powerful man in Washington, D.C." and his network of big money powerplayers.

We're launching a new effort called "Defeat DeLay Every Day" by asking supporters to make a small automatically recurring donation to this campaign every month. To do your part to defeat DeLay please click here and select the amount you can afford to contribute each month: https://www.onlinecontribution.com/rmorrison/

This campaign is made up of thousands of patriotic Americans all over the country who've had enough of corruption in high places. Over 7,000 ordinary citizens donated to the 2004 campaign and we raised almost $700,000. Our "Defeat DeLay Every Day" program is designed to make the most of our collective power.

I am asking each one of you to give at least $10 per month. $10 per month is 33 cents a day; 33 cents a day to beat Tom DeLay. Please make this commitment to democracy. You can't afford not to.

Yesterday's Houston Chronicle featured a column that really brought home to me what we're up against in DeLay, Inc. -- a cartel so blatantly corrupt that Newt Gingrich is appalled. From the column:

Talking with Newt Gingrich about ethics may be like talking to Willie Sutton about bank robbery. You listen carefully to such an experienced practitioner, but you wonder: If he's so smart why did he get caught so often.

No matter. Gingrich is currently as cautionary, if not as vocally indignant, about the House Republican leadership's slide into the muck as he is about debating "patriotic immigration" or "the myth of judicial supremacy."

As usual, Gingrich is taking the long view, not something that current House leaders such as Tom DeLay are regularly accused of doing.

Well, of course, House Republicans are not being careful. They are profligately displaying their power, including the power to abuse the House's tenuous-at-best policing of itself.

Gingrich made clear he thinks DeLay is on thin ice.

"The Republican Party's majority comes from the Perot voters who want real reform," Gingrich said. "Anything which weakens that is difficult."

Tom DeLay IS on thin ice and your monthly contribution of $10 or $25 might seem like a small twig, but from thousands of small sticks are mighty bonfires built. Click here to put your log on the fire: https://www.onlinecontribution.com/rmorrison/

fight on,
Richard Morrison

31. Richard Morrison is not a quitter.
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 12:18 AM by BrightKnight
Richard Morrison is not a quitter. In some ways, I have been hearing as much form him as I have from the Texas Democratic Party. If he wants to fight, I am in favor of helping him. He apparently needs a volunteer to him update his web page. I would like to see him start a PAC. Perhaps DFA could help him with organization.

It would be nice if there were a central place to go for party approved web site links. Further, these efforts should be strongly encouraged to use a single reliable funding tool like ActBlue. This would reduce the possibility of fraud.

Does anyone have a link to the Daily KOS thread about Morrison's fund raising link problems?

.......“Among the big-ticket expenses that Abramoff listed for reimbursement was a bill for the DeLays at the Four Seasons Hotel in London in the amount of $4,285.35,” Stone writes. “The voucher shows that the total reimbursement for expenses was $13,318.50. For some reason, it shows that both Abramoff and Buckham were owed that amount.

“The voucher shows that Abramoff was accompanied by DeLay and his wife; Hirschmann and her husband; and Ed Buckham, DeLay’s former chief of staff who had also become a lobbyist,” Stone continues.

“Abramoff’s voucher lists the purpose of the trip as “client relations” and names “MS Choctaw” as the client account to which the expenses were allocated,” Stone notes. “At the time, Abramoff and Preston Gates were representing the Mississippi Choctaws, a tribe that runs casinos. “

Stone notes that Abramoff and his wife personally have personally contributed $40,000 to DeLay’s campaigns and his political action committee in the last eight years, citing the Center for Responsive Politics. ..........

25. My sister just retired after 30 years on the Hill ...
She was a legislative assistant and committee staff member for three conservative GOP congressmen from the deep south. They hated Delay's guts. There are plenty of Repubs in Congress who: A. Hate Delay; B. Are terrified of Delay, and; C. Would surreptitiously grease the skids for Delay's downfall in a pair of seconds.

37. Not suprising
He brings campaign ethics to depths not seen since Richard Daly voted dead people in Chicago.

There's a reason why DeLay's nickname is "The Hammer", and it sure as hell ain't because he's a 90s rapper who dances around in gold parachute pants.

I sincerely hope they indict that slimeball and lock him up for all the BS he's pulled.
