I had heard that Cheney will stay on through the mid term elections in 2006 and then resign. It will be interesting to see how this plays out

I don't know if it'll be Rice but possibly. She seems to be moving up the ladder. I think in two years Cheney will have Halliburton a nice new home in Iraq so I could see this.

6. Who will take Rice's place as Sec of State...
...Rush Limbaugh?

Maybe Limbaugh's government-sponsored, Afghanistan trip (during which he's meeting with high-level officials, including Karzai), is a stunt to legitimize and prop him up.

Scary.

Promoting Condi positions her for the presidency in 08. Gee, will * be her vice president? Or deputy chief of staff?

My God! What if these bastards just rearrange the deck chairs in 08, and they all end up in the White House again, but in different roles???

I think I'm having a panic attack!!! ;)

14. I'm tellin' ya, that's the PLAN
They are going to run that bitch, mark my words. It's gonna be Condi in 2008. Why? Because she's the perfect victim in PR terms. The dems can't attack her without being accused of racism, sexism and anything else the GOP-bought-and-paid-for media can get away with calling them. It's a way to both stay in power for another 4 years, and villify the democrats for telling the truth. It's so diabolically evil it turns my stomach.

28. Condi would never win the Republican primary
Being an African-American woman she has a snowball's chance in Hell of being the Republican nominee. Republicans may talk about how much they love her, but when they get in the voting booth their natural bigotries will prevent them from voting for her. Just look at Alan Keyes in 2000 - he was the perfect right-wing candidate. He said everything they wanted to hear about the issues and the conservatives I know loved him. But when push comes to shove, he got what, 1% of the primary votes?

Trust me, President Rice ain't gonna happen.

She would be the chosen one - the figurehead to maintain the status quo for the next four years - and everybody else will drop.

As many here have already said, it doesn't matter to the GOoPers who the President is, as long as it's someone whose strings they can pull.

25. Of course they will
Rush will tell them that its the right thing to do, and they will pretend that we are the racists and sexists because we don't support Condi.

Remember, the racists and sexists are the GOP base, and they will not vote for a Dem at all.

In fact, they might enjoy the chance to call us racist or sexist and then returning home to beat their wives and complain about all the "niggers".

Trust me, I know several people like this.

Actual quote by someone I know: "Condi Rice is too smart to be black anyway".

I've actually been thinking about that myself for a few months, it's not an entirely unlikely scenario.

I don't think Rice would be a shoo-in to run for Preznit in 2008--I still think it'll be Jebbie. But perhaps he'd have her as his running mate?

Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 07:07 PM by BlueManDude
it would be purely a pr stunt so they can say how inclusive they are - she has no interest in running for president. this would be more about bush cementing a legacy of achievment than annointing a successor. it would be a sign that the wh would be neutral in the 2008 gop nimination fight.

i've said this before but i think gingrich will be the next president. i know he's got folks on the ground in nh already.

30. Wouldn't she have to be confirmed?
If there were less Dems than we would have liked voting against her for SoS, so be it. Tradition is the POTUS pos can select his cabinet, an excuse many used... However, VP is a different story, a heartbeat away from the presidency.

I think of her lies, and stumbling rhetoric (at times, hard to lie in an ad lib) and cringe... But then I think of what we have now, the dregs of elite, and i wonder, how much worse could it be?

As I am writing this, maybe that is gonna be their campaign theme, we had an idiot, imperialistic, cold, president... Vote for Condi, at least she's not an idiot... anyone in comparison shines

Dems start now hyping her lies and hypocrisy. Don't let the Reps spin her as some sexy vamp who's too smart for words. We all know better. Start now before it's too late.

Dean is the only Dem who would be willing to do this. Everyone else will try to play nice and bend over backwards so they are not seen as sexist or racist. Don't let them use our values against us. She's evil. Go for it, Dean and all the rest of us who are tired of being weak patsies.

47. Mark This! If Rice becomes VP, Bush will resign before the end of his term
As sure as I sit and stare at the damn screen before me, if Rice becomes VP, then the Bush family better duck and cover. One of them will be going down for a dirt nap, and W will resign to attend to his family affairs.

The GOP will be able to claim that they have the first Female Pres, and the first African-American President, and there will be no election to screw things up.

God help us if that happens.

Since the latest coronation I have had thoughts that the puppet masters would remove him. Of course, I always wonder if poppy would sign on to this...

So if she is VP and an accident happens to shrub, she assumes office, and then runs as the incumbant...just some thoughts that have been rolling through my head for a while, now.

50. To really dig into the voting patterns of the Democrats. Here is something
they could have done (Bush & Rove). They could have encouraged Powell to run for President. Powell would have easily gotten the nomination if the Bush machine had not run him down. Everyone wanted Powell and nobody wanted Bush (I guess Bush has been fighting that his whole life). Then the GOP would have been responsible for the first elected leader. Not the first hand picked one (Rice). Therein lies the difference. But someone as priviledged as Bush does not know the difference.

Dam that Rove plans on being in Power for 20 years.

Will American really elect another President they don't want with all the smoke & mirrors?
