And I don't mean standard lip service faith based initiatives, but ones in the Bush-Ashcroft tradition.

4. Faith based initiatives are nothing but a ruse
Churchs never had a problem getting government money, if they set up a secular organization and agreed to abide by dicrimination and hiring laws and other government standards.

I would not vote for someone who supports them, unless they were really good on everything else

6. As long as they are financed with faith based dollars and do not have
a government imprimatur and are voluntary. But that's the way it's been before B$$$.

11. As a strict separationist, it would pain me to do so.
If the most progressive candidate for an office saw nothing wrong with government and churches getting tangled up this way, I would have a real problem with giving them my vote. I might end up voting for the lesser of evils, but that candidate would get an earful from me regarding my disagreement over this position.

12. sure if we START TAXING ALL CHURCHES and make them pay
for cramming their religions down people's throats with tax payer dollars so the priest class does not have to get real jobs.

15. No way.....
.... Jose.

Churches get enough government special treatment.

And you can BET that any services provided via "faith-based" initiatives are going to have god strings attached.

I'm not paying my tax dollars to support anyone's religion. Let them pass the plate.

16. These assholes run around as efficiency experts and then they
want to fund faith based initiatives? Well we do that in Canada - but you have to prove your worth and keep the stats of what you accomplish. You do not get money unless you are actually providing a service. Then you have the same rights as any other group. But you have to accomplish something. You cannot just get more members for your church. You have to deliver.
