So What Happened, Rush?

Recovering drug addict and AM radio gasbag Rush Limbaugh had been mouthing off in a decidedly sour way about so-called Hollywood liberal elitist Clint Eastwood for the past month or so, and what was the end result of this windy effort? Clint walks away with some of the most prestigious Oscars, including Best Director and Best Film.

That the former Republican mayor of Carmel CA and star of the Dirty Harry series of films could be considered a liberal might be a stretch for some, but when dealing with the likes of Rush the more popularly accepted forms of reality do tend to go out the window.

In the future those actors, directors, and whomever desiring to win big at The Oscars should make a special point of offending the easily perturbed Limbaugh. It certainly won't hurt your chances of winning awards that could lead to the sale of hundreds of millions of dollars in movie tickets and DVDs.

1. I thought it was strange how quickly that movie took off with nominations

I don't know if it was because of the stupid made up RW "controversy" or not but I sense that it might have been.

Though they really didn't stand much of a chance to win thge academy (I sense) was overjoyed that F9/11 and The Passion were both entered in the Best Picture category not for documentary or foreign language respectively. The Academy seems to have been let off the hook from this being all politics and left vs. right because neither was nominated.

When Rush and the idiots tried to make something of "Million Dollar Baby" is seemed to gain a lot of traction.

I haven't seen it but that is just the sense I get.

After all Republican is only a lable but do we like their actions? Once I find out a person's politics it truly effects how I feel about that person. Murderer is only a label but if I found out you were a murderer I would not have a thing to do with you. I put republicans in exactly the same catagory.

11. My son won his dorm pool betting that backlash against rush would help

My son picked Million Dollar Baby based in large part due Rush's rants and campaign against the movie. He figured that Rush's attacks would push some Academy voters into supporting the film and he was right. He won a $10 gift certificate but it is the thought that counts.
