2. Ha!!
Bush* bets by inviting soldiers to his SOTU, and Kerry matches and ups the ante with first-responding firefighters.

So what kind of uniforms is Bush* going to try on next?

4. Well That's Politics for You
If Clark had the endorsement of the NH firefighters, don't you think he'd be thrilled to march in with them, too?

Kerry's not such a bad guy. People could make similar shots at Clark about his ethnic background, and I'd hate that, too.

14. The Gong Show
More spectacle, less substance. What's next? Is he going to wrestle Edwards for the nomination on TV? How about a greased pig chase?

19. The Fire Fighters. And How Egotistical Can Kerry Get
It would be appropriate to do this at a rally or march down mainstreet where Kerry was the main "attraction".

But he is going to a debate with 6 other Democrats.

Hopfully, the Daily Show will get footage.

This could be Kerry's YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH moment.

23. I guess if you think it is inappropriate
you'll be happy when it generates the inevitable backlash, and it is constantly replayed over and over again until the candidate becomes a national joke -- oh, wait, that's a different candidate, and it already happened.

24. Why Do You Care So Much?
If it's a mistake, then he'll suffer the consequences of it. Personally, I think this is a neat thing for him to do, it'll probably play well.

But why don't we wait and see if there's any coverage at all of this, much less negative coverage?

27. So The Bagpipes Originated In Persia
Well the bagpipes originated in Persia.

which is modern day IRAQ.

Kerry's marching with bagpipes is clearly a coded message to Saddam loyalists to unleash the WMD.

31. Nice defeatist attitude.

The fact is, spectacle IS part of campaigning.

Continually repeating to ourselves that the other side does it better is NOT a good strategy.
