Dean Supporters: Question re: What's your breaking point?
This is a serious question, and its NOT meant as a slam on Howard Dean. I still find myself largely undecided on the issue of who to vote for in the Primary, and Dean has been one of my possibles. However, with that being said (NBD folks, there's really not much reason to chime in here - because I already know your answer is going to be 'nothing Howard does will cause me to vote for anyone else - Its Dean or else I'm staying home in November'. By the way, NBD folks, I respect your decision there. I don't agree with it, but I definitely respect it.

Anyway, onto the question:

What would Howard Dean have to do in order to skew you away from considering voting for him? By now, we know the 'scream' seems to be affecting at least some decidedly pro-Dean folks. Alot of that could be media created - But I find it hard to believe there wasn't a true negative effect from what he did the other evening.

By the way, I don't see anything wrong with what he did - passion is great. The problem is, 90% of the country doesn't 'get' stuff like that. Soundbites kill, people.. its unfortunate, but true.

So, if Howard has another 'emotional outburst' - do you close the book on your consideration of him as your candidate? If he comes in 3rd in NH, do you say 'not a chance' and skew your vote to someone else?

To Everyone (yes, everyone) - Good luck to WHOEVER your candidate is in the primaries, and let's hope that, regardless of our party's nominee, the ultimate goal is reached. Getting Chimpboy the heck out of there before he ruins the country anymore than his simpleminded self already has.

3. He'd have to eat babies. Oh, wait! He's already done that, hasn't he?
Seriously, he'd have to commit a felony or withdraw. I don't see any of what he's done as a negative in the broader sense and, frankly, I'm sick of listening to politicians who are SO prepared and groomed that you never get a sense of what they really feel.

I get that with Dean, and I think THAT'S the reason he can beat Bush. He's genuine.

5. The day that he makes a speech and mentions how great Bush* is and
that he's changed his mind and that everything is just peachy.

7. He'd have to speak at a Republican fundraiser...
...or say that he wanted Kissinger or James Baker in his cabinet.

12. You bring up something when you say "soundbites kill".
We can either use this as an opportunity to put a few dents into soundbite culture, or we can go along with it, do what it wants us to do, and keep it going long enough for it to fuck up our next big candidate.

Your choice, people.

Yaaaaaaaa!

14. I'm here as long as Dean is. 5 days is a looong time in Politics.
I'm indifferent if he is not our nominee. The rest are all the same as far as I'm concerned.

Not much difference between them.

Dean first ABB second.

16. Dean is
still my man. To hell with the media. If he is not the nominee so be it, I'll still vote for the Democrat who is. But until then I am with him all the way. From the first time I heard him speak he grabbed my political heart and ran away with it. He is REAL.

17. I don't know.
He hasn't done anything to make me jump ship, or even think about jumping ship. So I'm not sure what the breaking point would be. I suppose it would be similar to any candidate. He would actually have to say some things that were truly despicable within the actual context.

18. He'd either have to quit, commit a felony, or poop in the punchbowl
unless it was Bush's punchbowl, then I'd contribute another $25 to his campaign.

21. I'm with him as long as he is in.
He is the only candidate I have ever made regular contribution to and if he is not the nominee I will vote ABB but would probably only support one of them monetarily. I would really have to close my eyes tight to vote for a general for president and would have to back into the polling booth to vote for Lieberman.

20. When Dean gives up
Dean's populist movement has challenged and will continue to challenge the status quo. Look for a rencarnation of this online populist movement in every election to come.

It will be tough to choose between a Washington Insider and a Leader of the Industrial Military Complex.
