Former US Senator Howell Heflin (D-Ala) dead. (1921-2005)

Heflin won the Silver Star in WWII. Served several terms in the US Senate. On a personal note, he dated my mother in college. RIP Howell Heflin.

3. ABC World News Tonight (Peter Jennings) just said

that Sen Heflin took cases representing black defendants back when it was very unpopular to do so. Sounds like a very decent and honorable man.

I hate to hear that we have lost a good man in Alabama.

He was a great senator and a great Democrat.

We sorely miss him here in Alabama. When he left the Senate we got stuck with that POS Jeff Sessions.
