Why Kucinich over Edwards?

During my time at DU I have seen Kucinich emerge as a clear 3rd place after Clark and Dean. However, I'm baffled at Kucinich's appeal over Edwards. Could a Kucinich supporter explain that to me?

2. Kucinich is an unappolagetic liberal.

People love the agressive masculinity of Clark and Dean. After they get past that, the measure is liberalism. Kucinich is a no holds barred liberal, so he comes in third. Since Edwards is a liberal trying to look like a moderate (as Clinton was), people don't see him as a DK who can win, which is how I see him.

4. Kucinich Is A Liberal, Yes... But I'm Confused As To Why

he voted YES on a constitutional amendment prohibiting flag desecration or flag-burning. That seems more like something that hard-core "Shut-up-and-salute!" conservative flag worshippers do.

No... I'm not accusing him of anything sinister... it just seems out of character compared to his other stances on civil rights issues.

6. I wondered that myself.

In poring over his record, I found exactly 2 votes I didn't agree with (discounting previous stance on reproductive rights). This was one. I can tell you my suppositions; of course, they are exactly that! Not from Dennis himself.

Dennis is a patriot. He's spent his life working for the ideals the constitution embodies. I think he sees the flag as a symbol of those ideals.

My sense of the matter is, he's not one to vote a certain way because of liberal standards. He does what he believes in. It just so happens that his values and stances on many issues are liberal.

I like Edwards. He's in my personal "top tier." I'll try to explain why Dennis is more appealing:

1. It's the issues. Edwards sounds good. I've spent time at his site, reading through them. Dennis offers more detailed information on more issues, leaving me confident that he knows what he is talking about and can make them reality.

2. Spend time listening to Dennis talk to people. His conversations need footnotes. He is so well-read, and understands everyday people's concerns like no politician I have ever met. He actually cares about every individual he meets.

3. Spend time reading through the copious speeches and statements Dennis has offered us. You'll find that he is working to help America evolve. Kucinich supporters support that evolution.

4. Look at his record. It engenders trust. His words and actions are consistent with his platform.

In the end, it's not about John Edwards. He's a fine man. I like him. I appreciate the work he's done in the Senate. But my choice is about Dennis Kucinich. Who he is, what he stands for, and where he is going.

I think that Edwards is just relatively less experienced compared to Kucinich. A fine candidate that I wish well.

10. I have this feeling that being for one is like being for the other.

These guys are so close in terms of their vision for America and what they stand for that when you stand for one, you stand for the ideas they represent, and therefore you stand for the other.

Somebody here once posted something like, "I'm for Kucinich. Convince me to be for Edwards."

I'm a huge Edwards supporter, but me response was, "don't stop being for Kucinich, if you really feel strongly about him and his ideas." It's those strong feelings that will do both of these candidates the greatest good. I think as long as we're feeling the kind of way these candidates make us feel, we'll end up with the best candidate who can win.

12. For me it's a make ore break issue-

Medical Marijuana. The evidence exists to support it and any candidate not aware of that is not high on my list of choices. Personal experiences have a major impact on that particular subject, so please, I'm not interested in being smacked around over it.
