just wanted to say that you guys are behind a darned good man...

i listened through a presser he gave in california today and i was exceedingly impressed... he has the message, that's for sure...


talking about iraq, he was saying that folks seem to have forgotten that the original reason we went in to this war was for weapons of mass destruction (at least according to this administration) but they did an about face once we were in there then and only then, did it turn into a 'lets find saddam.' game of cat and mouse... moreover, he said that if this administration is making it 'official policy' to kill every dictator they want, then we're gonna be in perpetual war...

this stuff is so common sensical, right? yet besides sharpton, braun, dean and kucinich, no one is saying it... no one! kucinich was so blunt, so on message, and right on target...


what are 'the others' saying? they're saying, 'oh bush was right, saddam was evil, the war was just, we are now safe, praise the lord'.... what nonsense! what complete nonsense!


so to kucinich folks, i love your chosen candidate. he's a believer, he's a liberal, he's a real democrat in a time when there are so few left... i only wish we didn't live in times where he's seen as some "whacko lefty" by so many...


but alas, we live in strange times indeed...

15. I admire Kucinich, but I'm voting for Dean because

I not only admire him, but he is electible. Kucinich is an idealist in the same vein as Jimmy Carter. Kucinich is definitely to the left of Carter, but you get my drift. I think it would kill him to have to compromise on issues dear to him and his constituents. And Dean, like Clinton better understands the art of politics, I think.

31. Sounds like why I supported Dukakis in 1988

I supported Dukakis in 1988 because I, too, thought he was "electable", even though my views were more in line with the late Sen. Paul Simon or Jesse Jackson. I ran two precincts, and even went to my state convention as a Dukakis delegate. Just like this year, my main concern was "beating Bush", and to do that we needed an "electable" centrist to run. Unfortunately, this "electable" candidate got creamed in November, because he didn't take a clearly Democratic stand on the issues.


This year, I started off supporting Dean. Then, after investigating Dean's platform and history, I had doubts, and began looking at Kucinich. Kucinich was right on almost every issue, and even talked about some issues that were completely off the radar of the others ("war" on drugs, reigning in corporate power, the military-industrial complex, to name a few).

If you truly believe that Dean's positions are the ones that resemble yours the most, then I agree wholeheartly support him in any way you can.

But, if you don't agree with him on the issues, ask yourself, "if Dean wins, how different will the country be better after he's elected?".

-- Will we have a government-funded single-payer universal healthcare system? Doubtful, as Dean doesn't support this.

-- Will NAFTA and the WTO still control our economy, and hurt small businesspeople and farmers? Probably, as Dean won't withdraw our country from them, and would only try to "tweak" them (which is not allowed under the WTO rules).

-- Will the so-called "war on drugs" still be sapping our resources and energy? Yes, Dean hasn't said he'd end it.

-- Will we still have a bloated military budget that's larger than the next four countries COMBINED, still funding useless programs like "Star Wars"? YES, as Dean has ruled out cutting the military budget.

-- Will the USA PATRIOT act still be the law of the land? YES, as Dean doesn't support its full repeal.


If this is truly what you want, then by all means vote for Dean. If not, you should probably support another candidate whose views more closely resembles your own.

And I occassionally want to STRESS a word by capping it. This isn't for ALL posts, just for the first post in a thread. I think that the rule was meant to prevent posts in ALL caps and with extreme use of exclammation points because it does make your eyes hurt reading that. Unfortunately, the rule gets taken a bit too literally and people like you get locked...lol

If you try to control it for threads you start you'll be fine. ;)

I believe his candidacy is good for the process. The debates aren't that widely watched, but he's reached more of the country with his ideas than I think he could have in any other forum. We need more people like Kucinich shouting from every rooftop they can find.

If Kucinich wins, we're getting the house back, and maybe the senate (depending on the seats that are up).

It will be the anti-* and no more R's in control flood.

So a vote for Kucinich is also a vote for the Dems back in control, where we CAN push Dennis' agenda.
