On Zogby no less. Polls Not Only Predict Vote, but Affect It, Some Argue
...But Zogby, in an interview Tuesday, said late-breaking polls can have an impact on electoral decisions, though not to the extent that they affect outcomes. ....

1. of course they do
otherwise Zogby wouldnt be doing them... and pushing candidates the way he does.

i love how his polls can be so wrong about Iowa - but then he's back for round 2 in NH, and everyone just jumps in and buys his load of crap all over again.

2. They definitely affect the process and effect the outcome...
...because we all know we try to make decisions upon information the media gives us. It's too bad the media doesn't feel the same.

BTW: I'm new here...Can anyone tell me how to insert my own icons into the messages?

16. But the ones that do, definitely have a greater understanding of the
way our country and our media work. To be honest I trust no one the way I trust Chomsky.

Also as an Anropologist, I really dig his formula for language.

To be fair to Mr. Dean for the entire week before the caucus in Iowa they played up the "Dean tapes" He had a good point, that unfortunately money almost always decides who the people get to vote for. Iowans just heard that caucuses were silly and many local stations went as far to ask people on the streets if they were offended by Mr. Dean's comments. Considering that he never even mentioned Iowans in particular it makes me weep when I consider the power of the media.

Another great book on the subject (and it's short, and an easy read):

"Prisons we Choose to Live Inside" by Doris Lessig ... or Lessing (Stupid brain!)
