Now Kerry is supposedly too angry???
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/TheNote/TheNote.html

(scroll down to Kerry)

LACONIA, NH, Jan 22-- 400 people filled the Elks Lodge with an overflow crowd. Kerry, who arrived nearly a half hour late for his first and only event of the day, abbreviated his stump to a twelve minute presentation, then took forty-four minutes worth of audience questions. After the event, as is quickly becoming custom, a media swarm engulfed the candidate, eventually forcing Kerry to Wade step-by-step into a throng of immovable reporters, cameras, and stills.

Having finally broken through the crush of media, Kerry stormed onto the "Real Deal Express", ripped off his Timberland Barn Coat, and tossed it into the gray and red striped seat by his side.

"Don't they get it?," Kerry bellowed to no one in particular. "I can't have this," he continued, referring to the media horde now watching his every move.

David Wade, traveling press secretary, entered the bus and immediately faced the Senator's wrath. Thrashing his arms, Kerry asked several times, "Where are my boots?"

It's "we're going to go to DC and take back the White House!!!
Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Which I see is a totally unpresidential notion according to what the medi tells us to think.

3. huh
Pretty soon, the media will portray all of our candidates as 'too angry' or 'unstable' (well, maybe not Kucinich, since I'm sure Rove will tell them to go easy on him).

I'm tired of the media trying to choose our nominee. I'm still disgusted by this week's excessive trashing of Dean.

5. They're not very creative, are they?
If an attack works on one candidate, they try it on others. No creativity whatsoever. If they're going to spend the time and energy on attacking the character of the candidates, one would think they would atleast try to shake things up a bit.

14. they really aren't
With this, they've dredged up a couple of retreads - the 'angry' gig, plus note the reference to the Timberland coat. Not only does this conjure up the Volvo-driving image, but also horns in on the Al Gore earth tones mockery.

Remember Rove's plan to dismiss the Democrats as being too negative and whiney? Well, the "angry" thing fits right in....

There ya go...I guess everyone oughta be on their best behavior!! :eyes:

...notice the choice of words. The supporters of all the candidates should realize, Rove does not want to face ANY of our candidates. He'd be far happier just cancelling elections, or killing off all who oppose him.

12. It isn't even a mole hill
They often start with pimples or ant hills. It so apparent that the media job is in part to sorberly recount the elections, then also to lazily 'Gore' and sit back and recount how the target responses.

It's pure schlock and lazy ass reporting on one hand and manipulation on the other. I'd hate to say ignor it because this crap does filter through to the witless.

Kerry seems to be stimulated more and more by the crowds. Good for him. If you can't respond to the regular people you have no business trying to represent them.

17. I sent an email
It was reactive, I know and probably won't serve any valuable purpose, but perhaps when there is an abuse of power such as this in the media - we should all react. It is definately not newsworthy and therefore is being used to slant opinion. I don't think that is resonsible journalism. So I sent this email to them:

"I am not a Kerry supporter. I do not however understand what the point of Ed Okeefe's reporting about a candidate (now the supposed front runner) behaving in a frustrated manner. Is this news? Where is the value. Does Mr. Okeefe himself never feel any moments of anxiety? Was there nothing in the whole campaign better to report about, or was this the only negative that could be found?"

Probably useless and they will assume me to be a lunatic, but there you go.

21. Okay, not angry... but he sounded pretty frustrated.
The media will paint that to their advantage. I think you should consider this a good thing. One of the issues I've had with Kerry is that he shows little passion. If the media doesn't go too nuts, and doesn't try to push the image of a petulant child on him, then I think some strong emotion is okay. Geez.. one day the media criticizes Kerry for being too wooden, now he's angry. Wierd how America lets the media tell them who to vote for, lets them shape the campaign message and players for the. Fundamental problem in America.

20. Wierd thing is that Dean hasn't had any public outbursts..
The Dean mean thing is urban legend, fueled by the attack media. I have yet to see a documented incident when Dean really angry. His infamous yelping speech was not even close to anger.. when you hear it, you can hear him laughing at the end. But.. that's not what the media has decided for the truth about him. Okay. Now it's Kerry's turn to be abused. The media can't stand the front runners. Perhaps they take their cues from the White House and RNC on whose turn it is to attack.

Kerry and his infamous.. Dean, Dean, Dean, Dean, Dean comment, shows some contempt for the media. He and his people have to be really careful, because they're watching him for anything they can exploit.

Remember when Clinto was running for office? Remember the media reporting at how Clinton was so angry, and that he'd yell and swear at his campaign staff if things didn't go well. Didn't we even get to hear a supposed off-mic curse toward a staff member during the campaign? I guess the media is really not very imaginative...

I was watching Dean, live as he made the speech, what he reminded me of was a coach coaching his team to win , when they were in a loosing game, I saw nothing wrong with it. In fact I thought he has the fire in his bellie to win, although I am a Edwards person.:D

23. handling the press
Ah yes that mob, a real mob in all the bad senses of the word, is comprised of humans too. Disarm with charm, and, ugh, it has to be sincere 24/7. Then, after licking over your hand and dribbling over your boots, they will not run off after the pack leaders for growling attack spin. That worked for JFK and used to work for a lot of candidates including good old frat boy plutocrat G.Dubya.

Even if the business side of the media is blindly against Democrats and they seem to smile genuinely then go and dutifully stab you in the back, there is a lot more mileage from REAL friendliness and charm. Rarely do the cameras get turned back upon the unsightly mob that the candidates have to brave every day and every moment blocking the candidate from the voters.

Remember, all people see on TV and the stills is the candidate, but if the media sandbags you because someone behind closed doors, or in their imagination, sees that as a phony act, your surface charm could be toast. These poor media guys, who can't even do their job well when not slanted, are nothing compared to the opposition a Democratic candidate will face from an insufferable GOP Congress.

Meanwhile the bad little media doggies should have their face rubbed into their own unfair copy- by the public.

I've heard complaints about Kerry giving detailed, thoughtful answers that "won't do well in this era of soundbites", about him not being "a-thrill-a-minute". Maybe we should "liven" up his image by responding to any cheesy "anger" pieces with "Yeah, he wrestles pit bulls in his free time, he skips meals to take more steroids and biker speed, his closest confidantes get physically nervous when Bush's name is mentioned in his presence, after a typical stump speech he ambles into the worst bar in town, picks out whoever looks the most like Bush, and says 'It's go-time'," etc.. "Scary Kerry! Don't fuck with a vet!" :grr: :nuke:  :grr: :nuke:

26. Here's what I want to see....
Every campaign should have 10-20+ supporters "adopt" a network. When their candidate makes a public appearance, the supporters go and surround the journalist from their "adopted" network and shove microphones in their faces and start screaming ridiculous things at them: "what made you decide to wear THAT today? Why are you SO angry?"

Kind of like a flash mob only with a bigger purpose.

I don't know if it would ever happen, but it would be pretty damn hilarious.
