1. I believe the anti-war furor against Bush swept up Kerry in its haste...

... and grouped them together because of his 'yes' vote on the IWR. I have said in the past, I myself was thrown for a loop when I heard that Kerry would vote 'yes' on it. But since then, I have discovered why he did it, and I know it was not out of malice or calculation or stupidity. Kerry was forced to make a tough decision with no optimum choices and no hindsight, and he did it with the best evidence available to him at the time.

3. Re: the "Get over it" bit

It seems to me an important part of any coalition to beat Bushism would be the people who have remained outraged over the theft of Election 2000. It seems like a major tactical error to alienate this group by telling them to "get over it" and stop "crying in their teacups."

It disturbs me more than a little that Kerry didn't say then what he said to Will Pitt. He wound up sounding dismissive then. He lost an important opportunity to work on the coalition.

The actual speech was never posted. There were just those words in an article and everybody assumed he was being dismissive. I never did, because that's not Kerry. He's the kind of person that puts shit behind him and then stands up, moves forward, and fights with everything he's got. Just like he's doing now.

Kerry has shown neither skill. It is very sad that he has sunk to single digits in most states other than New Hampshire, Iowa, and his homestate of Massachusetts.
