Wesley Clark could truly compete in all 50 states.

In Georgia, for example, a majority may want a Southern general who promises to lower taxes on the middle-class over George W.

While John Edwards says he could compete all over, I think the "liberal trial lawyer" label would make it difficult for him to do well in the South.

I have contributed to Kucinich, Edwards, and Clark, but Clark most-recently because I believe he would beat George W. if he were the nominee, and I'm less sure about the others.

I also wonder which candidate MO will support, now that Gephardt is retiring. AR is the closest state, both by car and probably by temperament, although I don't know much about that part of the country.

AR and MO are two states Gore didn't win that Clark may deliver come Nov, if he gets that far.

6. While I can see where you might take offense

with the comment of electibility coming into question, I believe the poster was expressing confidence in his candidate's electibility.

Sir, (or Ma'am), we have all taken hits by the media lately. We would do well to follow all our candidates shining example of remaining above the fray. The repugnants are out to get us. Let us rather rally around one another, and not give them the ammunition with which to load their empty weapons.

Of course his supporters believe he can win. However, there are no facts in evidence to justify that belief at this time.

He raised $11M in Q4 2003, second only to Dean. His "train to NH" is getting about $200K a day, already at $1.75M--and it's goal is to reach $2M by Tuesday. They overshot their $1M target on their last blog fundraiser, I don't remember by how much, but > 10%. And the contributions are averaging $120/donor, so it's personal contributions.

The Democratic Party doesn't *need* to win anywhere in the South to win the general election.

However, why take a chance. Give me a candidate that will sweep traditionally Dem states, *PLUS* take a few swing states -- and maybe even pull across a few Reds.

i'm not asking him to win Texas...
i just want W to have to actually campaign here. You give us Clark - and we'll just see what we can do to turn out the vote. That redistricting fiasco pissed a LOT of people off... a lot of suspense voters will vote Dem in the fall - and if we run someone a lot of texans feel comfy with (like Clark) then I promise a LOT of pubs will file a protest against W's big-government/guest-worker butt and stay home.

He may still take the place, but we'll do some real damage to the creeps downballot.
