A 56k modem is limited to 53.3k per Federal regulations. This speed is completely independent of the type, speed, etc., of the computer.

Many, many rural areas still have dial-up connections and nothing else.

53.3k = approximately 6.7Kbytes / sec.

Your file is 34.7 MBbytes.

34.7 MBytes / 6.7 Kbytes/sec = roughly 5400 seconds.

5400 seconds = 90 minutes.

That is best-case scenario, assuming that the computer can use 100% of the available bandwidth for the entire 90 minutes.

Obviously, there are faster DSL speeds, 512K and so on. It took me 1:39 to download it on cable, at 359K/sec, roughly 11 times as fast as a standard DSL. 11 x 1:39 = roughly 18 minutes.

18. I'm honestly at the point

whenever I see his face or hear his words there are tears on my face. I am so incredibly desperate for a better America, and I know he could achieve it. And I'm struck with this sense of desperation, this need for it to happen, and worry it won't and it's like watching, waiting for a train wreck. I feel helpless, all I can do is try and talk with co-workers about all the positive things he's done for people, but a single media sound byte seems to overwhelm that.

I deeply cannot remember ever feeling so hopeful and desperate about anything like the Dean candidacy since very, very early childhood.

I trust this man to make things better, for all of us, hurting no one in the process. He and his wife have the potential to drastically reshape the face of America for the better. It's been a long time since I felt so hopeful and so afraid at the same time.

I hate this, and I hope he wins. I'll support the nominee, never-the-less, but, god, I hope he leads us out of this dark age we've endured.
