1. No bounce from damage control tour

Gerry Chervinsky, president of KRC Communications Research, which conducted the poll, said there was no evidence that Dean's debate performance Thursday or his interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC's "Prime Time Thursday" had slowed his slide. "He's still going down," Chervinsky said.

2. 2 more days and 4 points up means Edwards is #2
it's called momentum, same for Dean and Clark but the other way.

final ticket will be Kerry/Edwards.

4. This is ridiculous.
We have had exactly 1 primary. Just 1. There are still a lot of primaries ahead and people are declaring the final candidate already.

Personally, I do not see a lot of difference between Bush and the democrats who voted FOR his programs. The insiders appear to be far too interested in cooperating with Bush and his objectives. Speeches on the road are nothing more than words. What counts is their actions and to me their vote tells the whole story.

I prefer an outsider. Any outsider.

10. Well then, you may want to become more familiar with their voting records.

According to the Congressional Quarterly, John Edwards was #1 on the list of Senators voting against Bush programs. I'm sure Kerry was not far behind.

If voting records against Bush matter, how can you support an outsider who has no record? You know nothing other than his/her words, which you don't trust.

There is a HUGE difference between the positions taken by all of our candidates and the Shrub's on most issues.

6. I left the republican party during the Reagan years.
I can and will leave the democrat party if they continue to embrace and imitate the current republicans.

7. Kerry momentum?

I am very suspicious of the recent resurgence of John Kerry.

Does it make sense that someone as laid back as he is, would inspire such a shift from a dynamic candidate like Dean, or a dream candidate like Clark?

Vote your conscious Democrats, rather than riding some real or perceived wave of momentum.

I like Kerry and believe this is the greatest field of candidates in one primary in the history of our nation.

Too bad its impossible to imagine any of the major candidates serving as VP except Edwards. He is young and would be the 2nd most gifted VP ever (Gore being the best).

8. Makes perfect sense to me
It's all about the media.

Up until the Iowa caucuses most people had zero interest in the candidates. The political wankers like us were involved but the average joe or jill sixpack in the towns didn't care.

The press seemed to be covering the momentum candidates, especially Dean. Those people in Iowa who took the time to investigate candidates and researched issues were the ones who came out to vote.

Granted, I've been with John Kerry since last summer so I may be a tad biased here but I didn't think he was getting the media play that he deserved. He was giving great speeches and making great impact with those he met but no one else knew it. Those in Iowa got it.

I also found these numbers very telling:

Among those who have decided for whom to vote in the past week: Candidate Now Wed/Thur Tues/Wed Mon/Tues Sun/Mon Sat/Sun Fri/Sat

Kerry 48 53 48 41 27 17 15

Edwards 21 18 11 12 11 10 8

Clark 17 16 27 26 31 38 39

Dean 10 13 13 18 22 22 20

9. My Personal Experience is not "suspicious"
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 08:35 AM by emulatorloo
I was for a long time really interested in Howard Dean, I was interested in Kerry too because of his record. I have studied the media in graduate school and pretty much am skeptical of what they say.

I got off my butt and went to a Kerry Event on veterans day and heard him speak. Everyone had told me he was "cold" and "patrician" and on DU I was told his campaign was imploding. But he was fiery and moving, connected w people, and had a lot of substance, and it seemed like he was getting his campaign off the ground. I was really impressed.

As we led up to the caucus, these are the two candidates I paid the most attention to.
I kept going to see them both. I watched them in the debates. I saw their tv ads.

The more I saw them, the more impressed I became with Kerry. I decided that I wanted to caucus for Kerry. That's what my heart and head told me.

Then I talked up Kerry to my friends who were undecided. If they were willing I took them to rallies. Some of them decided that Kerry was the right candidate for them as well.

I experienced no conspiracy nor was I forced to decide that Gov Dean was not my candidate. He is a good candidate and I will vote for him in the GE. But nobody twisted my arm and made me do what I did.

ON Edit: crazy sentences missing words not enough coffee
