Upon looking at my message and seeing the reaction, I feel I was a bit too hasty to find out if such a story was true. It may be or may not be. I haven't been able to get back in touch with the person who left me the message to verify....

If this message offended anyone, please accept my apologies. Since it seemed like it was a very important breaking story, I thought perhaps others had just found out about it too.

Dean's appeal is arguably not more "national" than Clark or Edwards; and it's debatable whether he's more nationally acceptable than Kerry, given their similar backgrounds and Kerry's military experience.

I agree that it's silly to think that Dean would drop out if his results in NH are below "expectations" -- whatever those are deemed to be by the SCLM. He's got the cash to run a marathon, and he'll stick with it until his coffers are drained.

Even if Dean falls markedly behind in delegates, however unlikely, we *NEED* Dean to stick in this campaign as long as he can afford to. If it weren't for him, Kerry would still be a milquetoast candidate, and Clark may not have entered the race. I, for one, am extremely grateful to the other "fringe" candidates, as well, for bringing important, oft-ignored issues into the campaign.

15. Dean answered this same question himself on TV yesterday or day before...

He was asked if he came in a 'very distant second' or third in NH, would he drop out, and the interviewer also asked if he had the financing to continue past NH. He said he will be in South Carolina, period, and financing is doing fine. The interviewer really ticked me off because she was implying that for DEAN, 'coming in a distant second' means LOSING....but you know for Edwards, well he's just getting started. The press will do whatever they can to kill Dean. Right wing is afraid of him. So they ignore his issues, knock his enthusiasm, and now it seems don't want to give air time at all. Consider who the press has supported over the past few years.... then do whatever it is the press doesn't want you to do!

I think that third might be a tad optimistic. I think that he'll finish fourth ... and only because Lieberman is not doing very well. He won't finish within 20 points of Kerry.
