LAFAYETTE -- A 28-foot gorilla has begun stalking some of Louisiana's Republican congressman, starting Tuesday by menacing U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany Jr.'s office in Lafayette's federal courthouse.

While it wasn't granting interviews, the bright red inflated gorilla did carry a sign stating its demand: "Don't monkey around with my Social Security. Say no to $131,458 benefit cut."

The mega-monkey spent part of the day camped out across from the courthouse at the behest of the Louisiana United to Protect Social Security group, which is calling for Boustany, R-Lafayette, to take a stand against the Republican thinking on reforming Social Security.

Boustany said Tuesday that he's made his stance clear, and he's waiting to see a bill brought before Congress before commenting on any specific plan.

Gorilla Dog: <bracket>i<bracket>s Louisian Repuke Congressman

Also, how do you get characters like square brackets and others that this board recognizes as formatting commands to display normally?

4. In the South, "to dog" means to
follow around closely and hound, as in, "I'm gonna dog my ex-husband til he comes across with that alimony check."

"Hound" means to nag, bitch, fuss at; as in, "I'm gonna hound that no-good ex-husband until he send me my check."

"Bitch" means.....oh well,

Nevermind.

6. GREAT gimmick!
Even if this doesn't get the issue on the local news (which it probably will) the Democrats need to adopt this kind of publicity stunt for Campaign 2006. Lots of people will notice and remember this.

In 21st Century America, debate, knowlege and stands on issues, Intelligence, and leadership DO NOT WIN ELECTIONS!
Publicity Stunts, Soundbytes, and talking points WIN elections.
Sad but true.
