TALKING POINT: The Iraq War is NOT "old news" it is a CURRENT EVENT

This is the talking point to use when the media claims The Downing St. Memo is "old news."

That seems to be the media excuse right now- "This is old news."

Er- excuse me, the Iraq war is a CURRENT EVENT. We are CURRENTLY spending BILLIONS over there- thousands of folks are CURRENTLY dying- this is not "old news"- this is a CURRENT EVENT.

It is not "just an opinion" either- it is a FACT that there are no WMDs or Saddam/9-11 connex.

Let's concoct some talking points for the inevitable excuses.

1. For 2yrs we saw headlines that CIAs bad intel misled Bush. McCain led a

commission that blamed the CIA for bad intel.

Now we know that it was the Bush White House that had the intel COOKED from the beginning and BLAMED the CIA when it it was revealed to be false.

McCain had to know this from the evidence they looked at on the intel. He chose to cover for Bush's lies and blamed the innocent analysts at the CIA.

It's past time that news ink be used for the TRUTH for a change.

2. McCain needs to be cut off at the knees NOW, before 2008..

Good point- I'd love to see this used against the GOP's "Good Cop."

3. That's why I bring it up. The DSM should be used against McCain, too.

No way did he lead an investigation into bad intel to get at the truth. He led it to get Bush off the hook.

Meaning: McCain LIED.

McCain blamed the CIA when he KNEW it was the White House. The analysts at the CIA who shared the truth with the commission and got blamed in return were screwed by McCain who they probably thought was an honest man. They must loathe him now for lying to the American people about THEM and their service to the American people.

I almost posted the following story earlier today about the depleted uranium contamination in Iraq. But just the title of the the opinion piece "Postwar Iraq Paying Heavy Environmental Price" made me cringe. Uhhhhhhh Postwar? Mission Accomplished? I just couldn't get my mind around that title.
