1. Today's numbers are out

they're the tracking polls through Friday. I think Kerry has anywhere from a 9-to-20-point lead. Tracking polls through today won't be out until tomorrow morning.

5. Yeah...I was hoping someone would come out with some Saturday numbers

tonight. They came out with a bunch of Friday numbers last night.

2. Since most of the interviews....

Have not even been taken, it would be hard for them to release. The only poll being released same-day is ARG, which seems to come out around 10 PM EST each night. Zogby/Gallup/KRC all are waiting until the next day to release.

Same thing happened in Iowa. The last reliable poll came out on Friday before the caucus (right?).

Yes the last Des Moines Register poll came out based on Friday surveys, but I think it was not released until saturday. The last Zogby poll was taken on Sunday and released the day of the caucus, but you said "reliable" poll.

8. The Des Moines Register Poll

which had the order of finish exactly right, came out Saturday night, to be published in their hard copy paper Sunday morning.

It is interesting to go back and read the daily snippets from Zogby about Iowa in the week prior to the caucuses. On their Saturday results - through Friday interviews - they said:

Pollster John Zogby: “Edwards had his best night ever, and Dean had a solid night. Kerry had his slowest night in a while, and this was not Gephardt’s finest hour. Dean leads among younger voters, independents, and liberals. Gephardt continues to lead among older voters and those with less than a college education. Edwards is strongest in the Central region of Iowa and among college educated. Kerry is strongest among 50-64 year-olds, men, and those who earn the highest incomes.

“But the candidates are clustered in the Eastern and Western regions of Iowa, among Democrats, among voters who say they are definitely attending the caucus, union voters, and women.

“All four candidates continue to have very strong favorable ratings, and fewer have doubts about Dean’s ability to beat President Bush.”
