FINALLY! CNN actually covering the Darfur Issue!
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 12:26 PM by FrenchieCat
A segment with Jemera Rone, Human Rights Watch, is being featured in a peice called "Eyes of the Young" who has an Online Gallery on the drawings of children who have witnessed the murders and rape of family members.

Ms. Rone is asking for an International forces to do what the Sudan government refuses to do!

The Website is http://hrw.org/photos/2005/darfur/drawings/1.htm

Let's give the website some hits and go view the "art" of these traumatized children!

It can only help!

2. I know!
When I look into my children's eyes....I can see the reflection of these children's soul.

That is when I say a prayer to thank the Lord for all that we have, and cry for those children who will have to live with their vision of a cruel and brutal world forever more. Their crime; being born in an area of our world that many just don't care about

In the meantime, the Michael Jackson trial is almost over.

3. Must kick.....
as this issue doesn't interest very many. We are so involved in so many more important things than the death of more than 300,000 unfortunate Africans.

If you go to the website....just leave a little acknowledgment in this here thread. Takes only a few minutes to go look at the art.

Please!

I really think, it's very important for people to see these photo's of children's drawings... their true feelings and how their daily life they live.

9. Responding to your interest.....by kicking.
It's all that I can do.

Where is the liberal outrage or interest on this? Will it only be worth discussing when it becomes the latest LIberal Cause du Jour?

8. the question is whether we will show interest
as this story unfolds....or whether we would prefer to wait till we know the end of the story.

Taha, Age 13 or 14
“In the afternoon we returned from school and saw the planes. We were all looking, not imagining about bombing. Then they began the bombing. The first bomb in our garden, then four bombs at once in the garden. The bombs killed six people, including a young boy, a boy carried by his mother, and a girl. In another place in the garden a women was carrying her baby son—she was killed, not him. Now my nights are hard because I feel frightened. We became homeless. I cannot forget the bad images of the burning houses and fleeing at night because our village was burned…”

11. I'm so ashamed.
I woke up this morning feeling sorry for myself because of petty little things in my life not going my way. I looked at the site and the drawings and cried my eyes out. I donated a small amount of money that I am LUCKY TO HAVE and resolve once again to care more about what's going on in the world around me and less about my petty concerns.

19. Here's another "piece of art"....for those who will dare to see.....

Salah, Age 13
“There were soldiers from Sudan, Janjaweed, and planes and bombs. I saw the Janjaweed take girls and women. The women were screaming. They seized them, they took them by force. The pretty ones were taken away…Girls were taken, small girls too, I think 5 and 7 and 14. Some came back after four or five hours…some we haven’t seen again.”

Telling us about the Christian administration elected on morals issues. You know, The culture of life agenda. Finally a look at reality?

That they are talking out of the sides of their mouth....again.

But we have to point that out.

Caring for a mass of tissues....yet not giving a damn about those who's souls are almost destroyed!

24. It is so sad to see those pictures.
Human Rights Watch: And here?
Leila: It’s a woman. She is dead.
Human Rights Watch: Why is her face colored in red?
Leila: Oh, because she has been shot in the face.

I was going to put the 'cry' smiley here, but that doesn't really cover it. We need a curled up on the floor in a fetal position, weeping uncontrollably smiley for things like this.
