Rasmussen: Bush approval at 53% (June 3rd)
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 11:42 PM by kansasblue

"a lasting change or merely statistical noise?"

Bush Job Approval
Strongly Approve 27%
Somewhat Approve 25%
Somewhat Disapprove 15%
Strongly Disapprov1 31%

Friday June 03, 2005--Fifty-three percent (53%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That's his highest level of Approval in nearly three months. It remains to be seen whether this reflects a lasting change or merely statistical noise.

3. No way! Those numbers are transposed like Shrub's sentences.
My bet IS his approval (at best) is 35%...on a good day.

5. Bad math
27 + 25 = 52...not 53.

Other than that...why would his approval ratings have gone up right now? No reason I can think of.

I think this report is pure crap. But that's just my opinion.

6. 48/46/46 Gallup etc. The Majors. Rasmussen is the outlier.
Not a bad shop, just his turn to be wrong. It's all a matter of numbers, likelihood of errors.

He'll get it right.

8. No Way.
Even at a pathetic 53% there is no way these figures are true. I know many are very defensive and keep hoping Bush will pull out some kind of political agreement they can credit to Bush.

But one thing I have to give Bush, my GOP friend is building another fantastic home, going on a vacation to St. Thomas, paying for her boy's college costs and his race track car, and they all love Bush. She has a Jimmy, he has an Escalade, and the boy has his race car and they own electric scooters to get them from one site to another. She has ruled out military service for the boy. She doesn't think he needs to be exposed to that side of life.

9. no margin of error?
During 2004, reports on the President Job Approval were based upon surveys of Likely Voters. Typically, a survey of Likely Voters would report a Job Approval rating 2-3 points higher than a survey of all adults.

Add the different results when including all adults to the typical 3% margin of error..the poll becomes meaningless.

12. not quite

Rasmussen gets the people that poll as 'undecided' in other pollings to admit that they do hope Bush gets it right despite doubts. The 'undecided' do give Bush all the benefit of the doubt when asked in unthreatening ways.

Yeah, that's been a pretty consistent 6-7% for quite a while. They're indies, that's how they are.

13. Yea, that's why they did so well in 2004.
I think you're mixing up your polling propaganda.

Wasn't it Gallup that people people like to claim overpoll Republicans and is owned by a fundie?

15. One just came out done by University... I believe this unbias poll more
than, any other polls. The University poll had Bush approval rating at 43% and that was only one week ago.

18. Highly unlikely.
The poor bastard has been hovering at about 43% for months now. Now that he's screwing up now more than ever before, I sincerely doubt his ratings have gone up.

I think ol' Rasmussen gave that figure a "pity padding" of about ten percentage points.

21. Latest CNN/Gallup Poll: Approval @ 48%
Zogby has Favorability @ 53. Favorablity generally means "is he the kinda guy you'd knock a few cold ones back with" while job approval means "d'ya think he's f***ing up the country or not"

We'll know the shrub is in real trouble when BOTH these numbers get below 50%.

22. That is far outside the range of other media polls.
Since polling is a statistical study, you throw out the outliers and this is an outlier.

26. Rasmussen is an outlier
They've become the official GOP shill poll. Every time I mention Bush's poor polling numbers to someone, they always seem to immediately come up with Rasmussen, a poll few had even heard of until recently. They'll ignore EVERY other poll to focus on this one. They must be getting paid well by the GOP now that they know we're on to Gallup.
