The RW spin. Those who disagree with or attack us are "desperate"
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 10:08 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
A little Saturday morning Googling came up with many examples.
"desperate Democrats" is an alliteration, (remember flip/flop). Is there a short, catchy phrase we can counter with?

Scott McClellan press conference, June 17, 2004

And each step that we take to move closer to transitioning to a sovereign, democratically elected government, the more desperate the terrorists will become.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/06/20040617-5.html

RW editorial

In a nutshell, Truthout.org’s primary purpose for its existence on the Web – alongside their hatred for America and Israel – is to dump anti-Republican, Bush-hating rhetoric into their own private black hole on the Internet for anyone desperate enough to listen to their toxic pontifications.

http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_8230.shtml

Another RW editorial

When the president nominates Chief Justice Rehnquist's successor, Democrats will be even more desperate and their character assassination of the president's nominee even more reckless and damaging to the nominee and the court.

http://washingtontimes.com/commentary/20050526-085732-4244r.htm

Recent news item

Bush said the fledgling Iraqi government was "plenty capable of dealing with" Iraqi insurgents, whom he called "a group of frustrated and desperate people who kill innocent life."

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/nation/11783178.htm

A Rovian quote

"They're just desperate," Mr. Rove said of Democrats on CNN. "They're not offering ideas in the debate, they're not being constructive, and so some of their members are taking potshots at Tom DeLay

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20050419-121820-4270r.htm

A personal favorite...the desperate Darwininsts

Darwinists Growing Desperate
"Smoking gun" memo outlines the strategy of pro-Darwinian forces in the debate over science standards.

http://www.religionjournal.com/showarticle.asp?id=2426

Anyone who is not in lockstep is dismissed as desperate.

So, are the neocons nervous? Is the administration alarmed? Is there wavering at the White House? Is the president petrified?

MKJ

Edited to add: I think when the DSM is really out there, we will all be labeled as "desperate"....

Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 11:04 AM by calimary
Alliteration is always good. Easier to remember.

Reckless republi-CONS.

Ricidulous republi-CONS.

Or you could say Wretched republi-CONS. Oops! Doesn't begin with "R" - "wretched" begins with "W". Well, THAT'S certainly true!

7. Randy and raunchy Republicans
How many kinky sex scandals have the Repubs and the Theocrat Preachers been involved in? Eeeeeeewwwww. Please don't mention White House gay male prostitute/journalist Jeff Gannon (James Guckert), and his Republican "friends."

9. So everyone is desparate?
my mother had a saying for this when we were young. "A skunk smell's his own hole first". Never really made sense to me, as she usually said it when one of us accused another in the family of farting, but I think it makes perfect sense with this current administration.

13. Nice catch
I have noticed that wingers are too stupid to think up words themselves, so they repeat whatever Rove tells them to say.

On the upside, the Iraqi patriots have been "desperate" for some time now, and hopefully our fight against the neocons will be as successful as theirs.

14. I have noticed Rush will mention an attack from lefties
on righties. Sometimes the attack does seem goofy. More often the attack seems damaging. He will usually not offer a counter point or refute the attack. He will only say, "folks, I told you they're getting desperate"

17. Irresponsible Republicans
I know that this isn't a very good alliteration but it's the best I could come up with.

BTW how can we start to put our own spin on things and get the MSM to listen or is that just plain futile. I think that the Downing Street Minutes is quite a bombshell and does anyone really know if there is an impeachment in progress?

Sorry, I haven't been watching the news lately.

25. From Spin Control Central: White House Plays Down, White House Downplays
This fits with my recent post on LUTD - The White House has been stuttering and dumbing down the news the past couple of days with their attempts at spin control and this has not escaped some in the media. Quips from these two recent headlines are from AP News: “White House Plays Down”, “White House Downplays.”

Scott McClellan has obviously been working overtime to “Play Down” and “Downplay” the reality and gravity of both of these news stories.

blah, blah, blah...it's beyond me how they can be so obvious in their response to damaging news and most of the MSM lets it happen. MKJ
