The White House has been stuttering and dumbing down the news the past couple of days with their attempts at spin control and this has not escaped some in the media. Quips from these two recent headlines are from AP News: “White House Plays Down”, “White House Downplays.”

Scott McClellan has obviously been working overtime to “Play Down” and “Downplay” the reality and gravity of both of these news stories.

White House Plays Down New Quran Reports

On Saturday, a day after the Pentagon described a series of cases of U.S. personnel mishandling the Quran, the White House downplayed the issue.
