This is not a time to stifle Governor Dean...
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 08:37 AM by kentuck
This is a time for Democrats to have a strong populist message, in my opinion. Instead of criticizing the Governor, we should be encouraging him. He may have crossed the line a little and angered a few Repubs, but so what? He's not there to say soothing words to those morons. I say, Go get 'em, Governor!

We are in the situation we are in because of this worry and caution about political consequences. We need to make the Repubs uncomfortable - very uncomfortable. Governor Dean can do that if we don't fall for the "moderate" approach once again. If we do, we can expect to continue getting our asses kicked.

2. I second that motion...
Why play nice when you get kicked in the balls?

Edwards snipe on Dean was typical of a opportunist hack. He should be disallowed from playing with the big boys from now on. Edwards creates something more pathetic than Jo-mentum. How about no-mentum...

Edwards needs to leave it to the pros...

3. Edwards can criticize if he wants...
We do not demand everyone march in lockstep, unlike the Repubs. As long as we keep our eye on the big picture, Edwards and others will benefit later.

5. We need to take our lessons from the repuke playbook and when asked
"What do you think about what Howard Dean says?"...the reply should be..."I can't speak for Governor Dean, if you want to know invite Dr. Dean on and ask him!"..:grr:

7. Why can't he criticize Repub policy and ideas and stupidity only?
Why is it necessary to attack personally. The repubs accuse Dems of being a party of Welfare cheats and lasy non-workers. These references are incorrect and demeaning, why do we have to go down to their gutter level? We are smarter than that!

10. Any Chance Dean Might Speak Out Against Iraq Occupation?
I'm sorry. He already did. Not against, but for the occupation! He wished Bush success with his military adventure in Iraq.

Dean is a Democratic spark plug, he is going to run hot and throw off sparks and well he should. I also happen to agree with Dean and support him strongly, but even if I didn't, it is absurd to tear apart each of his political comments literally. The same can be done at each and every campaign appearance of virtually any politician, and they all will "mis-speak" by that standard. Remember how the Republicans got the media to take down Gore in 2000? "I invented the internet" and all that crap? They will record 20 hours of tape of Dean speaking in order to mine for a nugget they can use against him. Dean can not walk around wearing a muzzle. That would serve the Republicans purpose. Other Democrats have to know how to turn those snippets into non issues. Dean is out there fighting for us and firing up our base.

From time to time another Democrat may feel a need to put a little distance between themselves and a specific comment that Dean or any other Democrat makes that gets picked up by the media. I can understand that. But that is an art to doing so in a way where you do not end up trashing your fellow Democrat in the process. Granted that isn't easy, since the media will try to spin anything a Democrat says out of context to use against us.

13. Dean won't be stifled. He's got a plan to rebuild the Dem Party and he is
busy executing that plan. The DLC and the Repukes fear that he will succeed. The DLC and their corporate pimps will lose power within the Dem Party as the state Dem Parties and their grassroots base rise. The Repukes know that a resurrected Dem Party based upon ordinary American populism will be their death knell.
