Senate opening prayer given by Adm. Barry Black, Senate chaplain |
|
The words (paraphrased) told the Senators that their first duty was to God. Not to the Constitution or to the Citizens, but to God.
Anyone else believe that this statement was over the line?
I will get the transcript from the clerk's site ASAP.

1. They were elected to serve us, not God! |
|
If they want to serve God, they can become ministers, priests, rabbis, etc. :grr:

4. Why the hell is there an "opening prayer"? |
|
It's not like it's a football game or something.
I have always objected to the offices of Chaplain in the House and Senate, and this bullshit with prayer just pisses me off.
