It must be extremely frustrating for rank and file conservatives
Their sissy leaders are just calling for boycotting companies who treat homosexuals as human beings. Their leaders just want to hold activist judges accountable. Such rhetoric must make the red state poor white trash bubba's testosterone boil. We know what bubba would like to do; put the homo's in ovens, shoot all the activist judges, deport the liberals to France; fuck a bunch of boycott and accountability bullshit. Of course bubba knows what the christian thing to do is, the thing to do in the land of the free. Christian Conservatives in America today are domestic enemies of the Constitution. Their everyday actions prove the point.

Note to lurkers: rhetoric means the use of speech

1. Many conservatives are mortified
I know a couple of them.

They're mortified at what Bush and his sycophants in the media call "conservatism".

They're disgusted by their church leaders with a Jesus talk but a Hitler walk.

They wonder how a comprehensive "Culture of Life" can be whittled down to a hatred of Gays and young women and an anti-science crusade.

Believe me, they're out there. And for all the things I disagree with them about, they're not our enemies.

2. I agree, there are real honest to goodness conservatives
amongst us. And they should be doing the leg work to marginalize the radical right and take back their movement. However, I choose not to separate them from the mix, let them do that. I stand by my post. Their are "conservatives" in this country who are proud to be "conservatives" who hate daily in the name of Jesus Christ and want to replace the constitution with the bible. If the conservatives you refer don't like then they should take action, NOW. I didn't spend 24 years in uniform supporting and defending the bible.

3. Oh, I'm not against your post ...
... I simply note that the situation you point out is real.

It's like with Senator McCain. I admire the guy to a certain extent, I think he's fundamentally honest, but his politics is so far different from mine that I would never vote for him. It doesn't diminish my respect for the man, nor does my respect cause me to accept his ideology.

But ... we can chose our short-term alliances as we see fit. There are conservatives in this world who actually do believe in Democracy, and that's a very good starting place.

4. It would be nice if some of them live in South Mississippi
I grew up in North Philly, six blocks from Connie Mack Stadium in the early 60's. Went to Saint Columba on Lehigh. Go Phillies.

5. You're making a big mistake here:
you're assuming that those rank and file conservatives ever bother to think.
