Janice Rogers Brown cloture vote
Happening right now on CSPAN2.

She is one of the 3 the "gang of 7" agreed to allow to go through to an up or down vote so no doubt cloture will pass. Just a heads up for those interested.

1. I'm less worried about Brown than Owen
I think Brown will be W's Souter. I think once she gets where she wants to go, she will disappoint the people that insisted that she be put there.

She's had a number of controversial decisions, but she's also had some well rounded decisions on criminal cases. I think Brown is less of a conservative than an opportunist. She saw the trend toward conservative and has ridden it to where she wants to be professionally.

2. The term "up or down vote " is a rethuglican focus group.....
....tested phrase which means senate floor roll call vote. Let the rethugs beat it to death, but kindly leave it out of posts here on DU, except when making a point and then please use " ". Thank you.

9. Whenever this is brought up, say this:
Bush and the GOP senators are packing the courts. We must not let this fly under the radar until some terrible ruling comes down.
