Biden said this on Imus ...
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 06:58 AM by welshTerrier2
"now you have, pouring across the border from Iran, and especially Syria, all these jihadists" ...

for those who are too young or don't remember, this is exactly the kind of rationalization that led to Nixon's bombing of Cambodia ... and the beat goes on ...

Biden also said he's giving a speech later today (in NY) where he's going to call for setting some guidelines and setting some timelimits on what's going on in Iraq ... if we're still not making any progress after some amount of time (he recently said about a year), he thinks we'll have to consider withdrawing our troops ... what a guy ...

finally, he referred to Guantanamo as a "giant recruiting tool" ...

6. Do you have a link for that?
The PNAC site doesn't show him as a signee, they list: Elliott Abrams, Gary Bauer, William J. Bennett, Jeb Bush, Dick Cheney, Eliot A. Cohen, Midge Decter, Paula Dobriansky, Steve Forbes, Aaron Friedberg, Francis Fukuyama, Frank Gaffney, Fred C. Ikle, Donald Kagan, Zalmay Khalilzad, I. Lewis Libby, Norman Podhoretz, Dan Quayle, Peter W. Rodman, Stephen P. Rosen, Henry S. Rowen, Donald Rumsfeld, Vin Weber, George Weigel, Paul Wolfowitz. Is there another list somewhere? Thanx

4. I'm beginning to think Biden is schizophrenic.
One day he makes sense and the next day he's slamming the party and agreeing with our war criminal president. I hope he's going to run in the New Hampshire primary. I'd love a few words with him.

The wannabe candidates have already begun converging on our state in anticipation of the primary vote for the 2008 presidential campaign. I expect Senator Biden will follow the crowd if he intends to run.

5. If we'd listened to our generals
we'd have enough troop to secure the borders. Why does Bush get a free ride on this one? We have occupied the country. Why don't we just go secure the borders!?

"...we'll have to consider withdrawing our troops..." was "so that we don't keep using them for fodder." And with that, I broke down and cried.

10. Biden's bumpersticker slogan ...
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 07:26 AM by welshTerrier2
Biden is willing to "keep using them for fodder" but only for about another year or so ... what a guy !!!

We should make that the central theme of the Democratic Party ... make it our slogan ... we could even get bumperstickers and t-shirts ...

The Democratic Party says:
"Keep Using the Troops for Fodder!!"
(but only for another year or so)

He's not a Democrat but a Republican Agenda enabler. He'll talk noble and back down at the last minute so "us little people" will not have time to regroup and make these a**holes (PNAC Democrats) do their damn job FOR THE PEOPLE not the military-industrial machines and the corporations who adore them.

I did not care for what he said this morning, except about Bolton. It is important that people continue to lobby the House and Senate to end American involvement in the war.

19. Between the lines
1) Feeding into the idea that all of the violence in Iraq is a result of vacationing jihadists undermines everything that many anti-war activists are trying to do. Some of those opposed to US occupation or Shiia rule are from surrounding countries. But Biden is refusing to understand the nature of the tribal relationships, the willingness of Arabs to protect their lands and dignity, and the intrinsic negative contagion of an occupation.

To think that Biden has ever been considered for the post of SoS is horrifying. What is worse, he thinks that he is qualified.

2) During the debate over the $87 billion dollars a proposal was made to withhold approval for these funds until the regime presented the senate with a plan for "success" and an accounting of how the money would be spent. Biden voted against this Democratic maneuver, and proudly announced on "Meet The Press" that he, Biden, was more political cleaver than Kerry or Clark for having assumed such a "pro-troop" position.

If not for the Biden-Clinton-etc Democrats, those troops might have had a fighting chance, and this war might have had an end.

Too little too late for Biden.

24. Well it's 2005
And when the guy says some right things, we ought to take it.

Denying terrorism exists isn't particularly helpful in the effort either. You can't say there's no such thing as terrorists, and Iraq is a recruiting ground for terrorists, at the same time. It makes no sense.

26. 2) was especially bad as he was there during the run up to the
election as a surrogate for Kerry. If he could have controlled his ego and explained as you just did the difference between the 2 bills and made the case for Kerry's decision and for his opposite decision, he would have been so much better.

34. I can absolutely guarantee
that if there were an occupying foreign power in my front yard that I would oppose them with force of arms and the last breath in my body. A war of aggression is being waged against the Iraqi people, and the future George Washingtons of their country are opposing us as an invading army. There were French and Polish nationals that helped the Revolutionary Army against the British Empire; since he came from overseas would you call Lafayette a terrorist?

Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 11:13 AM by welshTerrier2
i mean we killed over a million Iraqis with the US sanctions ... oh, i mean the UN sanctions that were ordered by the US ...

and we've killed another 100,000 or so since the invasion but who's counting ??? many of the dead were children, btw ...

sounds like state-sponsored terrorism to me ...

allow me to quote an advisor to General Zinni who provided the following insights prior to the invasion ... this guy was dead on the money and Biden was DEAD FUCKING WRONG:

One of Zinni's close aides says, "Our question was, 'What about the day after?' How do you deal with the long-term security aspects of Iraq? For example, do you take the Republican Guard and disarm it? Or is it preferable to turn it from having a capability to protect Saddam to a capability to protect Iraq? You've got Kurds in the north, Arab Shia in the south, and the Baath Party in the middle, with great internal tribal divisions. There's potential for civil war. Layer on external opposition and you've got a potential for great instability. I'm a military planner and plan for the worst case. As bad as this guy is, a stable Iraq is better than instability."
